  • Patent number: 5709617
Abstract: When a plurality of grooves extending from the toe side to the heel side are disposed in a plurality of upper to lower rows in a face of a wood type golf club head, these grooves are disposed on the lower portion side of the face and the upper portion side of the face is slicked without disposing the grooves. This arrangement can make a flying distance of a ball greater than by conventional golf club irrespective of rain or shine. In place of the construction wherein the upper portion side of the face is slicked, it is possible to employ the construction wherein the gaps between grooves disposed on the upper portion side of the face are greater than those between grooves disposed on the lower portion side, or the construction wherein each width of grooves disposed on the upper portion side of the face is smaller than that of grooves disposed on the lower portion side.

  • Patent number: 5414260
Abstract: A scanning probe microscope is used to observe a sample. The same portion of a surface of the sample is scanned forward and backward using a probe. A first signal corresponding to a structure of the sample is detected from the probe during a period in which the probe scans the surface of the sample forward. A second signal corresponding to the structure of the sample is detected from the probe during a period in which the probe scans the surface of the sample backward. When a difference is caused in at least a portion between the first and second signals, the portion of one of the first and the second signals is replaced by a portion of the other signal to generate a corrected signal. An image of the sample is formed using the corrected signal.

  • Patent number: 4917034
Abstract: An improved two-split carrying barge according to the present invention is aimed at solving the problem of ensuring watertightness at the opening portion of a hold of the barge. The carrying barge of the present invention has left and right parts of a hull that are rotated through hinges to open or close the hold at the bottom of the barge. The left and right parts of the hull are positively coupled by a coupling device which can be released with great ease by remote control when loaded cargo is to be expelled from the hold of the barge. Moreover, the carrying barge of the present invention is equipped with a rubber packing arrangement at the opening portion between the left and right parts of the hull. Since the rubber packing arrangement can flexibly cope with a change in the width of the opening portion due to rolling or pitching, the watertightness of the carrying barge of the present invention is ensured.
