Abstract: A communication apparatus includes an executor configured to execute given process, a restrictor configured to restrict the executor from executing the given process, an authenticator configured to perform authentication, a canceller configured to cancel the restriction applied by the restrictor if the authentication by the authenticator has succeeded, a communicator capable of wirelessly communicating with a wireless station, and a time measurer configured to measure time that has elapsed since wireless communication with the wireless station became difficult. If a previously set restriction condition that a state where the wireless communication with the wireless station is difficult continues until the time measured by the time measurer reaches a given value is satisfied, the restrictor restricts execution of the given process.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a transceiver unit transmitting and receiving information to and from an external device is provided. The apparatus includes a setting information storage unit storing setting information related to an operating environment in association with user identification information, a judging unit judging whether the information that the transceiver unit transmits to or receives from the external device includes given information, an extraction unit extracting the given information from the information including the given information, a specifying unit specifying a user on the basis of the given information, and a setting unit reading the setting information stored in the setting information storage unit in association with the user identification information and setting the user operating environment on the basis of the setting information.

Abstract: An information communication method includes: accepting first presence information transmitted from a first terminal device which is connected so as to be communicable through a network; specifying a second terminal device as a notification destination to which the first presence information is destined; mapping the notification destination to a transmission source of the first presence information; deciding whether or not an alteration of the notification destination is required according to a state of the notification destination as indicated by second presence information accepted from the second terminal device; selecting, if alteration is required, a third terminal device to succeed the second terminal device; and notifying the first presence information to the third terminal device corresponding to the altered notification destination.

Abstract: A method and system for providing area information anticipates the user's mode of transportation and destination and provides information specific to the anticipated mode of transportation and destination. The system comprises two information processing devices. The first transmits at least one item of area specific information and, the second receives at least one item of area specific information, wherein the first information processing device stores area specific information and corresponding location information in pairs, infers a mode of user transportation and estimates a destination of the user based on location information of a user of the second device, extracts at least one item of area information specific to the destination of the user, and transmits the at least one item of extracted area information to the second information processing device, and wherein the second information processing device receives the at least one item of area information from the first device.

Abstract: A transfer controller determines whether or not a communication message received by a receiver satisfies a predetermined condition, on the basis of data stored in a communication data storage. When the communication message received by the receiver satisfies the predetermined condition, the transfer controller stops and cancels the process for transferring the communication message performed by the relay. The transfer controller stores, in the communication data storage, data regarding the communication message relayed by the relay. When the transfer controller stops the transfer of the communication message, a proxy register generates proxy data on the basis of the data stored in the communication data storage and registers the proxy data in a proxy data storage. On the basis of the proxy data registered to the proxy data storage, a communication proxy generates a proxy transmission message and causes a transmitter to transmit the proxy transmission message.

Abstract: A communication promotion method is provided to appropriately support communication by a plurality of users in different environments. A character 2, operable by an IRC client 5, is linked to or installed in a user terminal 8. An administration device 3 detects a specific event in a channel and sends a specific command to the IRC client 5 via IRC. Commands do not always have to be sent to all of the IRC client 5, and may be different according to the IRC client 5. The user terminal 8 detects the aforesaid command and sends it to the character 2. Characters at each user terminal 8 operate as specified by the command.

Abstract: To conduct conversation without confusion in a virtual space while sharing a plurality of topics, send origin channel #CHOCOA, destination channel #meeting and message sending conditions are correlated and given to a chat server or chat client. If, for example, “USER1, USER3, USER4” are designated as sending conditions, only messages from designated users are sent from message origin channel #CHOCOA to destination channel #meeting. Meanwhile, messages from “USER1, USER3, USER4” can be displayed on message origin channel #CHOCOA or not displayed.

Abstract: A communication support system is connected with a network enabling communication among user terminals and is capable of accessing a user information recording portion in which shared information concerning users and access information showing users who accessed the shared information are recorded. The communication support system includes: a user identification portion that acquires a communication start request from a user terminal and identifies an originator and a receiver; a retrieval portion that retrieves shared information concerning the receiver that the originator has not accessed from data recorded in the user information recording portion; and a control portion that, based on a result of the retrieval by the retrieval portion, controls the communication. Thereby, the communication support system can control whether or not to start the communication based on the presence or not of information about the receiver that the originator should confirm.

Abstract: In an information exchange system in which a user terminal is connected to a network, the system is capable of transmitting and/or receiving messages via the network. A display area displaying messages transmitted and/or received can be increased with an increase in the number of networks connected, thereby causing the efficiency of processes due to reduction of the display area to deteriorate when such a display area is used simultaneously with other applications. The present invention reduces the display area by centralizing messages transmitted and/or received by each network, and displays these messages to an independent area on a time series basis. The system also enables transmission of messages to the network, to which the relevant message is transmitted, by identifying the message centralized for display. As a result, manipulation efficiency of the information exchange system is improved.

Abstract: A server and plural terminal devices form a network. Messages are transferred among the terminal devices via a plurality of virtual communication spaces formed on the network. The transmitted and received messages are displayed on a display device of each terminal device together with the message sender identifying information. The identifiers of members utilizing the virtual communication spaces and character-train information corresponding to the respective identifiers are stored in a display name management table. When an identifier and a message are sent from a terminal device, the server converts the identifier into a character train by means of the display name management table and sends the character train to the terminal devices.

Abstract: A profile creation system is provided to enable easy communications within virtual spaces. URLs and categories are stored in the category DB 13, such that the URLs and the categories are correlated to each other. Every time a user sends a URL on a conversation system such as the IRC, a category that corresponds to the URL is identified, and stored in the user data DB 14 such that the category is correlated to the user. By having valid periods in the entries of the user data DB 14, it is possible to create a profile that reflects a user's current status. It is also possible to include rating data in the user data DB 14, along with the category. By processing messages within a channel based on the rating data and user's category, it is possible to make communications within a virtual space easier and more effective.

Abstract: A message transmitting and receiving apparatus includes a memory device for storing therein a keyword in an IRC and a degree of importance thereof, a unit for detecting an occurrence of a message, and a unit for extracting a keyword from a received message. An importance determining unit determines a degree of a keyword in a received message as stored in the memory device in accordance with whether or not a user of the apparatus has responded to the received message. Thus, keywords and degrees of importance thereof can be dynamically determined.

Abstract: A communication support method system to ease make selection of a virtual space in a chat system. Category DB 22, which accumulates URLs and URL categories, is prepared. A URL said in a channel, its category, and the channel name are written to a URL table. The total sum of categories of URLs said in a channel becomes the channel characteristics. Channel characteristics are displayed in a window, etc. at an IRC client. After finding the total sum of URL categories, the weighting of URLs that conform to the chat contents should be immediately increased so that the channel characteristics better reflect the chat contents. For example, this includes increasing the weighting of URLs said by users who spend a long time in the channel or users who are active in sending messages. This also includes increasing the weighting of URLs which result in active chatting after the URL is said.
