  • Patent number: 5751827
Abstract: A piezoelectric speaker includes a casing and cover member having a transverse wall extending therebetween which forms a sound transmission channel having a spiral curved or double reverse bend shape and being of substantially continuously increasing cross sectional area between an inlet portion of said channel and an outlet opening to atmosphere. A driver element comprising a diaphragm formed of fiber reinforced epoxy, polyester or ABS resin has a piezoelectric ceramic disk secured thereto and supported in a recess formed on the cover member. A sound transmission opening in the cover member communicates with the inlet portion of the sound transmission channel. The diaphragm may be formed integral with the cover member. The speaker has the capability of expanding the frequency band width of audible sound at relatively high sound pressure levels.

  • Patent number: 5743103
Abstract: An air conditioner is provided and includes a louver which is provided at a blowing opening. The louver is moved rotationally from above to below or from below to above by a variable speed mechanism. At the time of heating, a louver rotational speed while the louver is moved rotationally in a range of a blowing angle .theta..sub.1 is set to a speed .omega..sub.1 within a vortices generation area relative to a wind velocity of blowing air flow. Also, a louver rotational speed while the louver is moved rotationally over the blowing angle .theta..sub.1 is set to a speed .omega..sub.1 within a vortices non-generation area relative to the wind velocity of blowing air flow. Thereby, at the time of heating, downward reach of warm air in a room while the louver is moved rotationally below the predetermined blowing angle and a temperature diffusibility while the louver is moved rotationally above the predetermined blowing angle are improved.

  • Patent number: 5737927
Abstract: A cryogenic cooling apparatus is provided, wherein the degree of freedom of installation and use is increased without deteriorating the reliability or stability and the range of uses of the apparatus is also increased. A coil unit and a refrigeration unit are positioned such that a second heat conductive member disposed on an extendible wall of a vacuum container and a fourth heat conductive member disposed on an extendible wall of another vacuum container face each other coaxially. In this state, the coil unit and refrigeration unit are relatively moved to approach each other, and thus the second heat conductive member and fourth heat conductive member come in contact. If the coil unit and refrigeration unit are further moved, the extendible wall extends and consequently the second heat conductive member comes in contact with a first heat conductive member. In addition, the extendible wall contracts and consequently the fourth heat conductive member comes in contact with a third heat conductive member.

  • Patent number: 5654058
Abstract: In a magneto-optical disk for recording, reproduction or erasing with a laser beam, which comprises a film of four-layer structure consisting of a first dielectric layer, a magneto-optical recording layer, a second dielectric layer and a metallic layer, laid on a disk substrate provided with guide tracks, temperature distribution of the magneto-optical recording layer is controlled by controlling the thermal diffusivity of the metallic layer, and recording/reproduction/erasing repetition characteristics are improved thereby. In the disk of the present structure, the temperature is elevated in a broader area from the center of laser beam, and thus a thoroughly broad erasing domain width taking a track offset into account can be obtained and no recording domains remain after the erasing.

  • Patent number: 5625388
Abstract: A recording mark having width (disk radius direction) larger than length (disk rotation direction) is formed by using the light intensity modulation method. The recording mark is ring-shaped. The ring part differs in optical characteristic from a part surrounded by the ring part. In order to form a ring-shaped mark, laser light having predetermined intensity is continuously radiated onto the recording medium. By modulating the intensity of the laser light, information is overwritten. The ring-shaped mark is set to have a width based upon the intensity of radiated laser light and the characteristic of the recording film.

  • Patent number: 5589306
Abstract: A photosensitive resin composition for producing a relief printing plate is disclosed, which comprises a polymer selected from the group consisting of a prepolymer, a binder polymer and a mixture thereof, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, a specific hindered amine and a photopolymerization initiator. Even when the photosensitive resin composition is excessively irradiated with strong actinic rays in order to cure the resin composition to its inner portion sufficiently, the surface of the resin composition does not undergo photodeterioration by virtue of the hindered amine contained therein, thereby imparting excellent toughness to the photocured resin composition throughout the entire thickness thereof. Thus, a relief printing plate having excellent printing resistance can be produced.

  • Patent number: 5377212
Abstract: A short-wavelength laser having a stable output and an optical information processing system capable of high-density recording are disclosed. A solid-state laser is used as a light source, and a nonlinear optical crystal is arranged in a resonator in order to produce a short wavelength by means of a solid-state laser. The retardation of the nonlinear optical crystal is controlled by determining the length of the nonlinear optical crystal. A solid-state laser device having a stable output with the noise removed from a pumping power light source is also provided. Further, the solid-state laser device is used as a light source for the optical information processing system, and the light of irrelevant wavelengths contained in the light from the solid-state laser device are removed by a device having the ability to select wavelengths. Thus, not only a stable light source with a short wavelength but also an optical information processing system capable of high-density recording are realized.

  • Patent number: 5321672
Abstract: A magneto-optical recording device for radiating a laser beam according to recording information onto a magneto-optical recording medium having an easy axis of magnetization in a direction perpendicular to a film face of the recording medium itself to form a reversed domain and record information, which forms a reversed domain by radiating a laser beam and moves the position of the reversed domain to record information. In an embodiment of the present invention, it becomes possible to over-write new information without erasing beforehand information already recorded by only controlling the intensity, pulse width, radiation position and radiation time of the laser beam without providing a special bias magnetic field for reversing the magnetic field.
