  • Patent number: 7846301
Abstract: A method of production of blast furnace coke comprising drying mixed coal, then, or simultaneously with the drying, classifying it to fine-grained coal and coarse-grained coal, then adding to the fine-grained coal at a temperature of 80 to 350° C. a caking additive comprised of one or more of a heavy distillate of tar, soft pitch, and petroleum pitch, agglomerating it by hot pressing, then mixing the clumps of coal and the coarse-grained coal and charging and carbonizing the mixture in a coke oven.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 12, 2006
Date of Patent: December 7, 2010
    Assignee: Nippon Steel Corporation
Inventors: Kenji Katou, Isao Sugiyama, Yoshiaki Nakashima, Hiroshi Uematsu, Takashi Arima, Masahiko Yokomizo, Michitaka Sakaida

  • Patent number: 6002993
Abstract: An apparatus provides a correct image of the surface of an inner wall of a narrow red-hot coking chamber of a coke oven. The apparatus employs linear CCD cameras (LC2 to LC5). The cameras are arranged so that optical axes thereof obliquely cross the inner wall. The cameras are moved by a carriage (HSA) with a linear view field of the cameras being substantially in parallel with the inner wall. The cameras provide linear images while being moved. The linear images are combined into a two-dimensional image and stored in an image memory under the control of an image processing unit (11A). The image is read out of the memory and displayed or printed on an output unit (10, MOV, CPTR, PTR).

  • Patent number: 5720116
Abstract: In a sloped tower type airborne drying and heating apparatus, a bulge or a neck is provided at at least one location in the inner wall of a sloped pipe for the purpose of reducing in a range of 3 to 50% the cross-section of a flow path in the pipe. Coal charged into the pipe is smoothly conveyed through the sloped pipe without dwelling in the lower portion of the pipe cross-section and thus effectively dried and heated.
