Publication number: 20110056601Abstract: A pneumatic tire in which: a carcass layer is laid between paired bead sections; a belt layer is buried, on the outer peripheral side of the carcass layer, in a tread section; and multiple main grooves extending in a tire circumferential direction are provided in the tread section. In the pneumatic tire, a maximum groove depth of each of the main grooves is 8.5 mm to 15.0 mm, a ratio ? of a section height SH of an actual tire to a section height SHstd calculated from a tire size is set in a range of 0.97???0.99, a contact area ratio is 65% to 70% under a measurement condition where an air pressure is 200 kPa and a load is 50% of a load carrying ability with the air pressure of 200 kPa, and an average contact pressure P is 300 kPa to 400 kPa under the measurement condition. The tire achieves enhanced wet performance without increasing tire weight.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 28, 2009Publication date: March 10, 2011Applicant: THE YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO., LTD.Inventor: Masahiro Ebiko

Publication number: 20110024014Abstract: A pneumatic radial tire having a structure where the lapel edge of the carcass is tucked under a belt layer and exhibiting high durability and steering stability can be easily produced using a carcass material of an existing size without preparing an ultra-wide carcass material. Two layers of carcasses (A, B) are extended from a tread portion (1) to a bead portion (3) via right and left sidewall portions (2), and the opposite ends thereof are turned down from the inside of the tire to the outside around right and left bead cores (4, 4). A belt layer (6) is arranged on the outer circumferential side of the carcasses (A, B) and the overall width of the carcasses (A, B) in the tire width direction is essentially equal and the carcasses (A, B) are offset in opposite directions in the tire width direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2008Publication date: February 3, 2011Applicant: THE YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO., LTD.Inventor: Masahiro Ebiko

Publication number: 20100051154Abstract: Provided is a pneumatic tire which achieves both of excellent wet traction and wear resistance from an early stage to an advanced stage of wear. Multiple dent parts are formed, at certain intervals in a tire circumferential direction, in both side walls of each of at least two land portions of multiple land portions being formed in a tread surface and extending in the tire circumferential direction. Each of the dent parts has a smaller depth than main grooves that define the land portion where this dent part is formed. Multiple sipes are formed to traverse the land portion in a tire width direction between the right and left dent parts opposed to each other. Each of the sipes has a greater depth in both end regions opening to the dent parts than in a center region thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2009Publication date: March 4, 2010Applicant: THE YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO., LTD.Inventor: Masahiro EBIKO

Publication number: 20090205763Abstract: A pneumatic tire includes a tread portion on each side of the equatorial plane. At least two circumferential main grooves and three land portions are formed in the tread portion. In a cross section in a meridian direction of the pneumatic tire, profile lines of the land portions form arcs, and an intersection of extension lines of profile lines of adjacent land portions forms an inflection point in a circumferential main groove. Tensile strength of a reinforcing layer in the land portions is larger than that in the circumferential main groove having the inflection points.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 5, 2007Publication date: August 20, 2009Applicant: THE YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO., LTD.Inventor: Masahiro Ebiko

Publication number: 20090078351Abstract: In a pneumatic tire, a rotating direction of the tire is specified. A plurality of sipes are formed in land parts. Each of the sipes has a substantially zigzag shape formed by a string of multiple V-shaped parts in a plan view of a tread part, so that a falling amount of the land parts in the rotating direction of the tire differs from that of the land parts in a reverse direction, against an outside force generated when the tire lands on the ground. Besides, a direction of the V-shaped part of the sipe is set so that the falling amount of the land parts in the rotating direction of the tire is smaller than that in the reverse direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2008Publication date: March 26, 2009Applicant: THE YOKOHAMA RUBBER CO., LTD.Inventor: Masahiro Ebiko

Patent number: 7506676Abstract: A tread surface the tire rotational direction of which is specified in one direction includes a first main see-through groove extending in the circumferential direction of the tire in a region of from 4% to 15% of the tire ground contact width from the tire equatorial plane toward each of left and right sides. Lug grooves obliquely extend from the first main see-through grooves toward the outer sides of the tire in the reverse rotational direction of the tire so as to communicate with the tire ground contact ends, the lug grooves being disposed at prescribed intervals in the circumferential direction of the tire. Blocks are defined by the lug grooves and the first main see-through grooves. V-shaped transverse grooves are disposed between the first main see-through grooves at prescribed intervals in the circumferential direction of the tire, the transverse grooves having vertexes that face to the reverse rotational direction of the tire.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2004Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: The Yokohama Runner Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masahiro Ebiko
