Patent number: 7773163Abstract: A reflective liquid crystal display device combined with an optical system with a wire grid is provided for light modulation by a liquid crystal layer. This layer, made of nematic liquid crystal having negative dielectric anisotropy, is formed such that first and second orientation directions on first and second substrates are rotated by “60±?” and “60±?” degrees in first and second rotating directions starting from a reference direction, respectively. The first and second rotating directions are mutually opposite, the reference direction is parallel to the first and second substrates and within in an angular range defined by a central angle plus ±5 degrees wherein the central angle is ±45 degrees from an oscillation direction of incident polarized light, and a relationship of |?|+|?|?10 (? and ? are zero or positive integers) is fulfilled.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2009Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.Inventors: Shigeo Shimizu, Takashi Moroboshi, Masahiro Matsumaru, Tetsuji Suzuki

Patent number: 6356417Abstract: A rotary head drum device includes a rotary drum and a plurality of rotary heads mounted on the rotary drum. The rotary heads record and reproduce a signal on and from a magnetic tape. The rotary heads are as follows. First and second rotary heads for an information signal in a low-frequency range are opposed to each other diametrically with respect to the rotary drum, and are different from each other in azimuth angle. A third rotary head is designed for digital signals in frequency ranges higher than the frequency range of the information signal, and for first and second operation modes being different from each other in data transmission rate. A fourth rotary head for a digital signal in the second operation mode is opposed to the third rotary head diametrically with respect to the rotary drum, and is equal in azimuth angle to the third rotary head.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2000Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.Inventor: Masahiro Matsumaru

Patent number: 5907460Abstract: An improved magnetic head enables to reduce a crosstalk values without degrading head wear characteristic of the magnetic head when it is used as a pair of magnetic heads in a magnetic head assembly. The magnetic head has a first and second core sections, each containing at least a magnetic core. The first and second core sections forms a magnetic gap between the respective magnetic cores and a head-tape contact surface by being abutted at distal end surface thereof. The first core section has an approximately L-shaped configuration. The first core section has a head-tape contact core part for forming a part of the head-tape contact surface of the magnetic head and a straight core part extending in an opposite direction of the head-tape contact surface from the head-tape contact surface. The second core section has an approximately C-shape configuration to allow a winding to be provided around the second core section.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1997Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Assignee: Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Matsumaru, Hiroshi Minami

Patent number: 5196972Abstract: A cassette loading device of the front loading type selectively loads standard and smaller cassettes into a loaded position in a video cassette recorder, and ejects the loaded cassette from the video cassette recorder. A housing has a cassette insertion slot, a first door mounted on the housing for selectively opening and closing the cassette insertion slot, and a second door mounted on the first door for selectively opening and closing an opening defined in the first door. A pair of door lock members is mounted on the housing one on each side of the cassette insertion slot. When no cassette is inserted, the first door is locked against angular movement by the door lock members, and when a standard cassette is inserted through the cassette insertion slot, a tapered surface of each of the door lock members is pushed by the inserted standard cassette to disengage an engaging surface of the door lock member from the first door to unlock the first door.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1990Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Assignee: Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Matsumaru, Mitsuo Harumatsu, Masato Mihara
