  • Patent number: 8928177
Abstract: A controller includes a difference detector that detects a difference between a switching timing of a first channel of a switching power supply including a plurality of channels, and a switching timing of a second channel of the switching power supply, the plurality of channels being coupled in common to an input power supply and performing switching operations in response to clock signals, and a timing adjuster that, based on a detection result of the difference detector, increases a difference between a timing of a clock signal supplied to the first channel and a timing of a clock signal supplied to the second channel when the difference between the switching timing of the first channel and the switching timing of the second channel is smaller than a first value.

  • Publication number: 20090184699
Abstract: A power supply apparatus is described that includes a first switch, a second switch, a first comparator, a signal generator and a controller. The first switch is provided between an inductor and a terminal having a reference voltage. The second switch is provided between the inductor and an output terminal. The first comparator compares an input voltage and a first comparison voltage. The signal generator outputs a frequency signal based on an output of the first comparator. The first controller controls current flowing into the inductor by controlling the first switch and the second switch based on the output of the signal generator.

  • Publication number: 20070159142
Abstract: A control circuit for DC-DC converters and a control method therefor wherein unstable operation in which output voltage fluctuates can be detected and the unstable operation be prevented from continuing are provided. The control circuit includes: an error amplifier ERA1 that has an inverting input terminal to which detecting voltage V1 detected according to output voltage is inputted and a non-inverting input terminal to which reference voltage e1 is inputted, and amplifies the difference voltage of detecting voltage relative to reference voltage e1; and a detection unit 50 that detects that an error output signal VOP of the error amplifier ERA1 stays at a predetermined voltage level. The detection unit 50 includes: a signal determination unit that determines that the predetermined voltage level is out of a normal operating range; and a duration count unit that detects that the predetermined voltage level stays out of the normal operating range for a predetermined time by the signal determination unit.

  • Patent number: 7098639
Abstract: A method for controlling a DC-DC converter that achieves high conversion efficiency without using a linear regulator circuit. The DC-DC converter includes a main switching transistor, a first capacitor, a second capacitor, and a diode that is series-connected to the first capacitor. The series-connected diode and the first capacitor are connected between the source and drain of the main switching transistor. The second capacitor is connected in parallel to the first capacitor or disconnected from the first capacitor in synchronism with activation and inactivation of the main switching transistor to generate gate voltage for driving the main switching transistor.
