  • Patent number: 8247970
Abstract: A PDP (Plasma Display Panel) comprising a front substrate structure (first substrate structure) in which two pairs of an X electrode and a Y electrode and a non-emission area therebetween are formed, and a plurality of light-shielding films formed with spacing from the X electrode and the Y electrode in the non-emission area. The light-shielding film contains a metal material common with a metal material forming the X electrode and the Y electrode. And, the light-shielding film is formed in an island-shape having spacing from a neighboring barrier rib formed to a rear substrate structure (second substrate structure). According to the above structure, the area of the light-shielding film which may cause a capacitance-coupled portion with the X electrode, the Y electrode, or an address electrode can be made small, thereby suppressing capacitance coupling even when a conductive material is used to the light-shielding film.

  • Patent number: 7728792
Abstract: A plasma display panel is provided in which discharge connection in the column direction is prevented without increasing the number of man-hours in a formation process of a partition and without deteriorating ventilation for an exhaust process. A pattern in a plan view of a partition is made a mesh pattern in which vertical patterns are included at inter-row positions in each column. Each of first vertical walls is positioned at a boundary between columns, each of second vertical walls is arranged at a position away from a boundary between columns for each boundary between rows and each of horizontal walls is positioned at a boundary between rows. In the partition, a height of portions where the first vertical wall crosses the horizontal wall and a height of portions where the second vertical wall crosses the horizontal wall are smaller than a height of the other portions of the partition.

  • Publication number: 20090302763
Abstract: In a plasma display panel wherein lattice-like ribs are formed, an impurity gas inside the panel is easily exhausted. The panel has a paired substrates facing each other. The peripheral portions of the panel are bonded to each other to be sealed. The panel is manufactured by allowing an impurity gas located between the substrates to be exhausted upon carrying out the sealing/bonding process. The panel includes a cell-defining rib and a dummy rib. The cell-defining rib has longitudinal ribs and lateral ribs, which is formed in a display area between the paired substrates. The dummy rib has the same shape as that of the cell-defining rib, which is formed in a non-display area which covers from an outer edge of the display area over to the periphery of the substrates, a ventilation passage being formed in the non-display area in which the dummy rib is formed.

  • Publication number: 20090174329
Abstract: A plasma display panel, in which discharge gas is filled in a space between a pair of substrates facing each other, has a plurality of display electrodes which extend in the horizontal direction and address electrodes which extend in the vertical direction and cross with the display electrodes, formed to the pair of substrates; and lattice-shaped ribs having vertical ribs and horizontal ribs that demarcate unit emission areas and formed on one of the substrates, wherein the rib has a pattern which partially becomes narrower from a first width to a second width, and returns to a first width in plan view so that the height of the second width portion is lower than the height of the first width portion. Thereby a plasma display panel having a rib structure with improved exhaust conductance can be provided.

  • Publication number: 20090140951
Abstract: A technology capable of stably maintaining the address discharge characteristics even in a long-term drive of a PDP is provided. A PDP has a structure where projecting portions are provided to a display electrode pair used for surface discharge so as to extend toward a reverse slit side in a cell region. Address discharge is performed between a scan electrode having the projecting portion and an address electrode. Since surface discharge in the display electrode pair and address discharge using the projecting portion are positionally separated from each other in this structure, address discharge characteristics are stabilized even if a protective layer is degraded due to the surface discharge.

  • Patent number: 7379032
Abstract: A plasma display device is provided that can realize a stable progressive display using a plasma display panel that has a shared type arrangement form of display electrodes. A plasma display panel structure including display electrodes having a shape that has little variation of electrode area between cells and a driving sequence are combined in which the addressing step is divided into the first half and the second half. One of the first half addressing and the second half addressing is performed for a row on which the first display electrode is arranged that has an odd arrangement order when noting only the first display electrodes that are not used for row selection, and the other of the first half addressing and the second half addressing is performed for a row on which the first display electrode is arranged that has an even arrangement order.

  • Publication number: 20060181212
Abstract: A plasma display panel includes a pair of substrates, pairs of discharge electrodes, row electrodes, column electrodes, and barrier ribs. The pair of substrates have R cells, G cells and B cells which respectively generate three primary colors of red, green and blue in the discharge space to form each of pixels. The pairs of discharge electrodes are placed on one of the substrates for each of the R cell, G cell and B cell. The row electrodes, which are placed on each row of the matrix, are to supply power to each of the discharge electrodes. The column electrodes are placed on each column of the matrix on the other substrate. The barrier ribs are placed between the column electrodes in the column direction. The length in the row direction of the discharge electrodes is adjusted in accordance with the discharge timing of each cell for each of R cells, G cells and B cells.

  • Publication number: 20060093734
Abstract: A method of applying a phosphor paste of PDP includes the steps of disposing a screen mask on a substrate formed with a number of barrier ribs, applying a phosphor paste on the screen mask, and filling phosphor paste into cells by discharging the phosphor paste from apertures of the screen mask. The barrier ribs are formed on the substrate so that the each concave part becoming the cell forms independent space. The screen mask includes filling apertures and discharging apertures. Each of filling apertures is formed on a position corresponding to the concave part becoming the cell. Each of the discharging apertures is formed between the filling apertures so as to remove air outside, the air being accumulated within the cell when the phosphor paste is filled in the cell.
