  • Patent number: 4655697
Abstract: A scroll-type apparatus having an improved radial seal and a method for the assembly thereof is disclosed. The spiral wrap of a moving scroll and a stationary scroll are provided with gap adjusting means for providing a gap of a desired size between the top surface of the spiral wrap of each scroll and the top surface of the base plate of the opposing scroll. The gap adjustment means comprises a spiral-shaped elastic element which fits into a groove formed in the top surface of a spiral wrap or on top of a protrusion formed on the top surface of the spiral wrap. The elastic element is supported by the spiral wrap by friction.

  • Patent number: 4624630
Abstract: The lubricating oil pool 11 in the bottom of the shell 1 of a rolling piston refrigerant gas compressor is communicated directly with the space 16 inside the cylindrical piston 4 via a supply passage 10c in a side plate 10. Sufficient clearance is provided between the ends of the piston and the compressor side plates 9, 10 to enable limited communication between the space 16 and the compression and suction chambers 6, 18. The compressor discharge is supplied to the space 7 within the shell, and the resultant differential pressure applied to opposite ends of the supply passage causes a steady flow of oil into the piston interior to properly lubricate the moving parts of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4623306
Abstract: A scroll compressor, such as may be used for a refrigeration compressor, having improved lubrication of bearing parts and sliding surfaces is disclosed. In accordance with the invention, the various components of the compressor, including both the orbiting and stationary scrolls and their driving components, are located in a housing, and lubrication passages are formed therein, such that an ample supply of lubricant is supplied to all bearing and sliding parts for all operating states of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4621993
Abstract: A scroll-type pumping apparatus comprising a stationary scroll 1, an orbiting scroll 2 and a drive shaft 6 driving the orbiting scroll. A bottom end portion of the drive shaft is dipped in oil in a basin 150 formed at the bottom side of the apparatus. A compartment plate 30 is arranged between the basin and a motor 10 and 11 driving the drive shaft. Flow preventing means allows flow only in the direction from an upper side to a lower side of the compartment plate.

  • Patent number: 4575320
Abstract: A scroll compressor having an improved lubricating structure so that lubricating oil is supplied substantially instantaneously after the compressor is started to bearings and other sliding members. An oil storage section is formed by a hole in an upper end portion of the main drive shaft and a communicating hole in a drive shaft of the orbiting scroll. A lubricating hole extending longitudinally through the main shaft communicates with the oil storage section via a pipe of a determined height so that lubricating oil is pooled in the oil storage section when the compressor is stopped.

  • Patent number: 4564343
Abstract: A scroll compressor having an improved sealing arrangement. Ends of scroll wraps opposite end plates are formed with grooves extending longitudinally along their spiral surfaces. Spring members are fitted into lower portions of these grooves, and tip seals in the upper portions, opposite and in contact with the end plate of the opposite scroll. In one embodiment, the grooves are divided by partitions into segments and separate springs are disposed in each segment. In another embodiment, the springs have a zig-zag shape.

  • Patent number: 4553913
Abstract: A scroll-type hydraulic machine having a first stationary scroll with a first scroll wrap, a first orbiting scroll with a second scroll wrap on one surface thereof interleaved with the first scroll wrap, a first orbiting scroll shaft on the other surface of the first orbiting scroll, a second stationary scroll having a third scroll wrap, a second orbiting scroll having a fourth scroll wrap on one surface interleaved with the third scroll wrap, a second orbiting scroll shaft provided on the other surface of the second orbiting scroll, and a crank mechanism. The crank mechanism includes a rotatably driven crankshaft having an eccentric through-hole extending lengthwise therethrough, an eccentric shaft rotatably supported by bearings in the eccentric through-hole, and first and second eccentric ring mechanisms. Each eccentric ring mechanism is provided at one end of the eccentric shaft and is rotatable with respect thereto.

  • Patent number: 4533292
Abstract: A turbine includes a plurality of blades mounted on a rotary pedestal such that the pedestal is rotatable in the same direction regardless of the direction of flow. Conversion efficiency is improved by generally locating the zero lift plane of the blades on a cylindrical or conical surface coaxial with the rotary output.
