    Abstract: A separable foamed thermoplastic resin laminate sheet comprising a foamed thermoplastic resin sheet and a thermoplastic resin film, wherein the foamed thermoplastic resin sheet has a cellular surface having a plurality of cells which have an average cell size of from 0.005 to 0.5 mm and having a surface smoothness R.sub.max of from 5 to 200 .mu.m, and the peel strength between the foamed thermoplastic resin sheet and the thermoplastic resin film is from 5 to 400 g/25 mm width. The resin film is easily strippable from the foamed resin sheet with a reduced scatter in peeling strength, making the formings reusable.

    Abstract: A foamed laminate sheet suitable for thermoforming and a double-side vacuum forming process using the same are disclosed, said foamed laminate sheet being composed of a foamed interlayer comprising a polyolefin resin as a main resinous component and from 0.5 to 35 parts by weight of an inorganic filler per 100 parts by weight of the polyolefin resin, said foamed interlayer having a density of from 0.18 to 0.98 g/cm.sup.3, and a polyolefin film laminated on both sides of said foamed interlayer. The foamed laminate sheet exhibits excellent formability, and formings obtained therefrom have excellent heat resistance, oil resistance, heat insulating properties, and strength, with outstanding use in a microwave oven or as a retort food container.

The cells of the sheet are burst, i.e., opened or collapsed, so that the surface of the sheet which contacts the surface of a container is formed in a convexo-concave surface, which facilitates the entry of boiling water or cooling water between the sheet and the surface of the container when the sheet is adhered to the container.

    Abstract: A method for preparing a multi-cellular foamed board of thermoplastic resin which comprises forming under pressure in a die a thermoplastic resin melt containing a foaming agent to give the resin melt a shape of a flat board having a broad width compared with a thickness thereof, extruding the resin melt from the die having the convex forward end with a middle portion in the width direction thereof protruding the greatest toward the extruding direction, introducing thus extruded resin melt immediately into a moulding passage having a concave end engaging with the said convex forward end of the die, allowing the resin melt to expand in the thickness direction at the portion adjacent to and extending along the concave end of the passage, and thereafter allowing the resin melt to expand in both the thickness and width directions of the board in the passage.

    Abstract: A sleeve and method of making the same comprising a laminate sheet having a more highly shrinkable foamed film and a lesser shrinkable non-foamed film, the ends of the laminate being bonded together so that the foamed film faces the interior of the sleeve. The foamed film has a thicker surface layer on its side opposite that laminated to the non-foamed layer, which therefore faces the interior of the sleeve.The flow direction shrinkage rate of the laminated sheet, which is 60% or less, is greater than the widthwise shrinkage rate of the laminated film. The widthwise shrinkage rate is 10% or less.

    Abstract: A process and die are disclosed for preparing a foamed article of thermoplastic resin having a particular cross section configuration. The die of the invention is provided with a plurality of apertures in its face through which the resin is discharged. The apertures in the face of the die are distributed in a shape corresponding to the cross section of the foamed article which is produced. The apertures are further divided into a plurality of groups in which there is at least one zone which is void of apertures so that the apertures in the same group are actually restricted to a narrow band. The zone on the surface of the die which is void of apertures has a thickness more than twice the average distance between two adjacent apertures belonging to the same group.
