  • Patent number: 8197629
Abstract: A method of the present invention for producing a polarizing plate including a polarizer and a transparent protective film provided on one side of the polarizer with an adhesive layer interposed therebetween, include the steps of: (A) irradiating at least one side of a polarizer with vacuum ultraviolet rays to treat a surface of the polarizer; (B) bonding a first transparent protective film to the side of the polarizer, which has been subjected to the surface treatment step (A), with a first adhesive layer interposed therebetween to produce a temporary polarizing plate; and (C) peeling off the first transparent protective film and a surface layer of the polarizer, which has been subjected to the surface treatment, from the temporary polarizing plate. A thin polarizing plate in which shrinkage-induced bending is reduced may be obtained by the method.
