  • Patent number: 6506335
Abstract: A mold for producing a hollow thermoplastic resin molded article includes a set of female and male mold members and a gas passage provided in at least one of the mold members which opens directly onto a surface of the mold member. Alternatively, a gas introducing member for introducing gas into a cavity may be provided in communication with the gas passage such that the tip of the gas introducing member does not protrude into the cavity of the mold. A lagging material, such as an insulating material or a local heater is preferably provided in the area of the mold adjacent the gas passage or gas introducing member. A method of producing a thermoplastic resin molded article using a mold of this nature is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20020058081
Abstract: A multilayer molded article constitutes a resin body and a skin material which covers a part of the surface of the resin body so that an edge part of the skin material present on the surface of the resin body is placed in a groove formed on the surface of the resin body. The article is produced by providing an unclosed mold having a lower mold having at least one pin for fixing the edge part of the skin material at a position where the edge part of the skin material is placed and an upper mold having a kick for forming the groove, placing the skin material on the lower mold and fixing the edge part of the skin material with the pin, supplying a mass of resin melt between the skin material and the lower mold, and closing the upper and lower molds to form the multilayer molded article.

  • Patent number: 6382949
Abstract: The present invention relates to a metal mold for producing a synthetic resin molded product in a compression-molding method, which is comprises a pair of male and female molds which are allowed to mutually slide over a contact face, with the outer circumferential face of the male mold and the inner circumferential face of the female mold serving as sliding portions at the time of mold-clamping, characterized in that either the male mold or the female mold or both of the molds is constituted by a mold main body and a sliding member. The sliding member forms a portion of the metal mold over the entire sliding portions or on a portion thereof, and is removably attached to the mold main body. The same metal mold may be used for production of a non-laminated synthetic resin molded product and a laminated product having the same design by replacing only the sliding member, without the need for using different molding devices corresponding to the respective production processes.
