  • Patent number: 6003492
Abstract: A throttle control apparatus which is adapted to be disposed near the accelerator pedal of a vehicle includes an electric motor, and an operational member which is operatively connected to the output shaft of the electric motor for abutting against the accelerator pedal in order to swing the accelerator pedal during operation of the motor. The motor is positioned within a housing and is operatively connected to the operational member by way of interengaging gears located in the housing and a rotation shaft extending through the housing. To facilitate the mounting of the housing on the vehicle dashboard, a two-piece bracket can be employed.

  • Patent number: 5317512
Abstract: An arrangement is presented for an actuation system of a passenger protective device for a motor vehicle. The system is equipped with a storage device to successively input a newer acceleration signal from an acceleration sensor at every division period obtained by dividing a measurement period so as to store and update a plurality of the latest acceleration data for the measurement period. The plurality of stored latest acceleration data are summed to obtain an integration value at the measurement period. The system compares this integration value with a predetermined value to detect a collision state of the motor vehicle. When detecting the collision state of the motor vehicle, the system actuates the passenger protective device. This system arrangement can improve the vehicle collision decision accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4967597
Abstract: When an acceleration sensor is used, it is attached to a measured object to detect an acceleration applied to the object. The acceleration sensor includes a package having at least one chamber. A sensor element is disposed in the chamber and has a portion which vibrates in response to the acceleration. Damping liquid is sealed within the package and has a quantity which allows the sensor element to be submerged in the damping liquid and which allows a predetermined quantity of gas to remain in the package. The gas absorbs a thermally-induced volume change of the damping liquid. In the absence of the acceleration, a gas bubble is prevented from separating from the gas. In addition, the gas bubble is prevented from staying in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4506266
Abstract: An antenna for a vehicle-mounted receiver/transmitter includes: a driver for extending and retracting an antenna connected to the receiver/transmitter; a selector for selecting a frequency to be received and/or transmitted by the receiver/transmitter; and a controller which operates in response to an output from the frequency selector for causing the driver to extend and retract the antenna by the length corresponding to the frequency, and for retracting almost the entire antenna into the body of the vehicle when the receiver/transmitter is not operating.

  • Patent number: 4484279
Abstract: A vehicle speed control method for automatically maintaining the vehicle speed of an automobile at a desired speed without driver operation of the accelerator pedal includes a step of performing only the set operation for equalizing a reference speed to a detected actual vehicle speed irrespective of the actuation period of the set switch when the set switch is actuated under a condition in which the automatic vehicle speed control operation has not previously been executed. Thereafter, the desired vehicle speed can be correctly set to be higher, unchanged, or lower when the automatic vehicle speed control operation is initiated for less than a certain interval, within that interval, or longer than that interval.

  • Patent number: 4232757
Abstract: Automobile speed control to maintain actual automobile speed at a desired automobile speed, in which a superposed electrical analog signal formed by a first electrical signal indicating actual automobile speed and a feedback signal indicating fuel injection duration in an engine of an automobile is supplied to a comparator which compares it with a second electrical signal indicating desired automobile speed and memorized on a capacitor. The differential signal or error signal at the output of the comparator circuit is supplied to a servomotor which controls the position or opening of a throttle valve of the engine. The feedback signal is supplied from an injection time signal generator circuit which, in response to a fuel injection command signal from an electronic fuel injection control device associated with the engine, generates an electrical analog signal corresponding to fuel injection duration.
