  • Patent number: 7920711
Abstract: An audio device capable of easily generating two or more sets of surround signals based on 2-channel stereo signals and a method for generating surround sound are provided. The audio device 100 includes: an SL signal generation section 20 and a BL signal generation section 40 as first surround signal generation units for receiving an L signal and an R signal as 2-channel stereo signals, extracting a component of the R signal having high correlation with the L signal, subtracting the component from the L signal, thereby generating a first surround signal; and an SR signal generation section 30 and a BR signal generation section 50 as second surround signal generation units for extracting a component of the L signal having high correlation with the R signal, subtracting the component from the R signal, thereby generating a second surround signal.

  • Patent number: 6944303
Abstract: A phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit generates a sine wave signal synchronized with an input signal. The sine wave signal is directly supplied to a first multiplier. The sine wave signal is also supplied to a second multiplier after shifting the phase by 90 degrees by an all-pass filter (APF). The first and second multipliers multiply the corresponding input signals by corresponding predetermined gains. An adder sums the products. Sound corresponding to the sum is produced from a speaker to a sound field. A filter-controlling unit controls the gains for the first and second multipliers, respectively, to minimize an error signal ā€œeā€ for the output level of a microphone installed at a listening position.

  • Publication number: 20040138769
Abstract: A digital amplifier for amplifying an input digital signal includes a sound-volume adjusting section for controlling the volume of the digital signal and a gain adjusting section for performing gain adjustment by applying compression characteristics to the digital signal subjected to volume control by the sound-volume adjusting section. Furthermore, the gain adjusting section performs calculation based on an expression y=a{1−1(1−[x])n} in order to apply compression characteristics to the input digital signal x, which is converted to the output signal y.

  • Patent number: 5524057
Abstract: A noise-canceling apparatus includes a canceling-sound generating source for outputting a canceling sound, a sensor for sensing a composite sound that is a composite of noise and the canceling sound at a noise-canceling point, a noise-canceling controller, to which a composite-sound signal and a reference signal conforming to noise generated by a noise source are inputted, for generating a noise-canceling signal by executing adaptive signal processing so as to cancel out the noise at the noise-canceling point using these signals and inputting the noise-canceling signal to the canceling-sound generating source, and a frequency-characteristic correcting unit provided on the input side of an adaptive filter, which constructs the noise-canceling controller, and having a frequency characteristic that is substantially symmetrical, about a 0 dB line, with respect to the frequency characteristic of a canceling-sound propagation system.

  • Patent number: 5410606
Abstract: A noise-canceling method for simultaneously canceling a plurality of harmonic components of the engine rotational speed contained in engine noise. Reference signals are generated in correspondence with a plurality of harmonic components, and an adaptive signal processing is executed by using each reference signal, a composite-sound signal of the engine sound and a composite noise-canceling sound at a noise-canceling point, thereby generating a noise-canceling signal. The noise-canceling signal is input to a speaker. The reference signal corresponding to a harmonic component of a low level is multiplied by a constant K before it is input to the speaker so as to approximately equalize the levels of all the harmonic components at the noise-canceling point.
