  • Patent number: 7225631
Abstract: The invention provides an improved air chiller unit mounted on an aircraft for sending cooled air to service carts used for serving meals. An air chiller unit 1 includes a refrigeration cycle unit housed in a casing 10. The refrigeration cycle unit comprises a compressor 20, a condenser 30 and an evaporator 40 for a refrigerant, and the cooled air is sent to a galley via a blower device 60. The casing 10 is formed of honeycomb panels. The compressor 20 is supported via a pair of vibration isolation mounting devices 26 on a base plate of the casing 10. The vibration isolation mounting device 26 is formed of a triangular prism-shaped bracket and an A-shaped vibration isolation rubber, which functions to isolate vibration at normal times, and when a large load is received, functions to support the compressor device 20 with high spring constant with the rubber vibration isolator compressed.

  • Patent number: 7174739
Abstract: The invention provides an improved drain valve for dew condensation in an air chiller unit mounted on an aircraft. The drain valve 160 attached to a drain of a drain pan in an air chiller unit is equipped with a valve seat member 162 having an opening 162a at the center and a valve member 164 disposed to contact the lower surface of the valve seat member 162. The valve member 164 is made of thin silicon rubber, and arms 164b created by slits formed thereto support a valve means 164e with extremely small spring constant. While the air chiller unit is operating, the valve means 164e is air tightly attached to the opening 162a of the valve seat by negative pressure, closing the drain valve. When the operation stops and dew drops gather on the valve means 164e, the valve means 164e is displaced by the weight and the valve is opened. When there are no dew drops, the valve is closed to prevent moisture from entering.

  • Patent number: 7137273
Abstract: The invention provides an improved air chiller unit mounted on an aircraft for sending cooled air to service carts used for serving meals. A compressor 20 of a refrigerant equipped in an air chiller unit has a motor 210 and a rotary compressor 220 disposed in a cylindrical housing 200. An oil separator unit 240 attached to the top portion of a drive shaft 214 of the motor has two disks 241 and 242 which define two labyrinth portions G1 and G2 for effectively separating lubricating oil from the refrigerant traveling toward a refrigerant exit 203.

  • Patent number: 7059148
Abstract: The invention provides an air chiller unit mounted on an aircraft for sending cooled air to a service cart etc. for serving meals. The air chiller unit 1 comprises a refrigeration cycle unit equipped on a casing 10. The refrigeration cycle unit is equipped with a refrigerant compressor 20, a condenser 30 and an evaporator 40, and the cooled air is sent to a galley etc. via a blower device 60. The casing 10 is formed of a honeycomb panel. Since the honeycomb panel has high flexural rigidity, the base plate can reliably support the refrigeration cycle unit by itself. Further, since the honeycomb panel has good heat insulating property, the efficiency to cool air is improved.

An air chiller unit is equipped with a refrigeration cycle unit disposed on a casing. The refrigeration cycle unit is equipped with a compressor, a condenser, an evaporator and so on for a refrigerant, and the cooled air is sent via a blower device 60 to a galley etc. A housing 630 of the blower device 60 has an inlet and two outlets 650, 652 for cooled air. A duct member is inserted to one of the two outlets 650 and 652, and the other outlet is sealed. The casing 10 is formed of a honeycomb panel. Since the honeycomb panel has high flexural rigidity, the base plate can support the refrigeration cycle unit by itself. Further, since the panel has superior heat insulating property, the air cooling efficiency can be improved.
