    Abstract: In an electromagnetic focusing electrostatic type image pick-up tube the electrostatic deflecting electrodes formed on the inner surface of the tube consist of 2 pairs of electrodes. Each of these electrostatic deflecting electrodes has a zig-zag shape from the electron gun towards the target. This zig-zag shape is twisted in the circumferential direction around the axis of the tube and variation rates of this twist amount are different, depending on the position in the axial direction.

    Abstract: An electron gun for a color picture tube consists of a triode that generates a plurality of electron beams and a main lens which focuses and converges the electron beams. The main lens can be divided into two types, i.e., a pair of bi-potential focusing electron lenses and a combination of the bi-potential focusing electron lens and a uni-potential focusing electron lens. The electrodes constituting the main lens have apertures for permitting the transmission of a plurality of electron beams. The center axes of apertures are deviated toward the center axis of the embodiment of electron gun away from the axes of initial paths of the electron beams emitted from the triode.

    Abstract: An electron gun for a color picture tube has beam generators for generating three electron beams and directing them toward the fluorescent screen along three paths which are parallel with each other on the same plane, and at least one pair of electrode surfaces each having three apertures centered with the three paths for forming independent main lenses so as to focus the electron beams on the fluorescent screen, the electrode surfaces being spaced apart from each other. Provided for the electrode surface are cylindrical shield members centered with the apertures and extending from the apertures in opposition to the opposing electrode surface. Outer ones of the cylindrical shield members have each an end surface inclined with respect to the center axis of the aperture so as to form inclined electric fields effective to converge the outer beams to one point to which the central beam converges.

The electron beam can be deflected and focused to provide a minimized beam spot with less distortion.

    Abstract: A camera tube device for use in a television camera comprises an electron gun including a cathode electrode for emission of an electron beam, and first and second grid electrodes respectively having apertures for controlling the diameter of the electron beam. The aperture of the second grid electrode is sufficiently smaller than the aperture of the first grid electrode. The first grid electrode is applied with a positive voltage relative to the cathode electrode and the second grid electrode is applied with a positive voltage relative to the cathode electrode which is higher than that applied to the first grid electrode. The positive voltage applied to the first grid electrode has such a value that forms the electron beam having passed through the aperture of the first grid electrode into a laminar flow beam.
