Patent number: 7182543Abstract: A structure is provided between a first columnar structural member and at least a second structural member in which the stress concentration at the fixed end portion of the reinforcing member with the first columnar structural member and the second structural member(s) is greatly relaxed. Also, in the case where the reinforcing member is welded, the residual welding stress is relaxed, with the result that the proof stress and the fatigue performance are remarkably improved over the prior art. In the joining structure with the first columnar structural member and the second structural member(s), the first columnar structural member and the second structural member(s) joined to each other have welded thereto at least a tabular reinforcing member to reinforce the joining of the structural members. The reinforcing member has a U- or V-shaped bent portion along the surface of the structural members and also an opening.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2004Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: Nippon Steel CorporationInventors: Tetsumi Kondo, Masakazu Sugimoto

Publication number: 20050166485Abstract: The present invention: provides a steel pipe pole base and a method for reinforcing the steel pipe pole base that do not allow the strength to lower in the vicinity of the weld toe of a rib even in the event of applying repeated bending moment; and is characterized by forming peening processed portions 20 by ultrasonic vibration at the weld toes 16 of tabular ribs 12 welded to the base of a steel pipe pole 10 in the form of a T-joint or the weld toes of inverted-U shaped ribs 13 or inverted-V shaped ribs 14, the ribs being bent at the upper end portions, welded to the base of a steel pipe pole 10 in the form of a T-joint. Preferable treatment conditions are 20 to 50 ?m in amplitude and 10 to 50 kHz in frequency. In particular, the present invention makes it possible to remarkably improve the fatigue property because stress concentration is relaxed by the synergetic effect of bending the upper end portions 16 of the ribs 13 and applying a peening treatment.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2004Publication date: August 4, 2005Inventors: Masakazu Sugimoto, Tomonori Tominaga, Tetsumi Kondoh

Patent number: 6857808Abstract: The present invention provides a joining structure capable of greatly improving the proof stress and the fatigue property by alleviating the stress concentration and residual stress caused by welding heat at one or both ends of a tabular member. In the present invention, one or both ends 4 of a tabular member 3 such as a reinforcing rib, fixed to the surface of a structural member 1 in the direction of the principal stress of the structural member 1 so as to protrude in the shape of T, is/are bent in a direction deviating from the direction of the principal stress and, by this, the rigidity at the end(s) 4 of the tabular member 3 decreases and the stress concentration is alleviated. It is preferable to bend one or both ends of a tabular member 3 in the shape of an gradual curve and to the extent that each bent end is formed at a right angle to the direction of the principal stress. The tabular member may have the shape of a flat plate, or it may be bent so that it has the shape of U or V as a whole.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2000Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignees: Nippon Steel Corporation, Yoshimoto Pole Co., Ltd., Inaba Electric WorkInventors: Masakazu Sugimoto, Masayuki Okimoto, Tetsumi Kondo, Shiro Kita, Masafumi Higasa

Patent number: 6646107Abstract: The object of the present invention is to produce a polymer, which is free from the troubles of the coloration and the decrease in the mechanical properties of molded articles (films, etc.), crosslinkage failure, migration (stain) or the like, by the living radical polymerization method wherein the content of impurities consisting of a transition metal and its ligand employed as a polymerization activator is reduced. A process for producing a polymer is described, comprising: a) the step of performing a polymerization reaction by using a monomer, a transition metal and its ligand and a polymerization initiator to form a polymer; and b) the step of eliminating the transition metal and its ligand contained in the polymer under the condition of a viscosity of 100 Pa·s or below, wherein the step b comprises: b1) the former step of eliminating the transition metal and its ligand insoluble in the polymer; and b2) the latter step of eliminating the transition metal and its ligand dissolved in the polymer.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2001Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Nitto Denko CorporationInventors: Yutaka Moroishi, Michiharu Yamamoto, Tetsuo Inoue, Tomoko Doi, Masakazu Sugimoto, Fumiko Nakano
