  • Patent number: 7686137
Abstract: There is provided an oil separating structure of an automatic transmission, which makes it difficult for an oil strainer of an oil pump to draw oil containing air bubbles. A baffle plate base separates a space around the oil strainer and a space around a driven sprocket as well as a final gear, and therefore, oil containing air bubbles formed as a result of agitation by the driven sprocket, chain, and final gear does not flow directly into the oil strainer. As a result, the oil strainer is unlikely to draw oil containing air bubbles.

  • Publication number: 20060060424
Abstract: There is provided a baffle plate which conforms to the shape of the inner peripheral surface of a transmission case and can be easily brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the transmission case, making it easier to design and manufacture the baffle plate. Rubber plates are arranged on a side of the baffle plate in proximity to the bottom wall of the transmission case. The baffle plate encloses both sides of the rotating surface of the driven sprocket. Therefore, even if the inner peripheral surface of the bottom wall of the transmission case has a complex shape, the side of the baffle plate in proximity to the case bottom wall can be closely attached to the inner peripheral surface of the transmission case. And, the baffle plate can be easily designed and manufactured. Also, oil agitating resistance during rotation of the driven sprocket can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6086513
Abstract: In a fluid pressure control system for a continuously variable transmission, a valve for regulating a torque converter pressure is a pilot actuated valve having a pressure increasing side pilot port for receiving a control pilot pressure for controlling a line pressure and a pressure decreasing side pilot port for receiving a second pilot pressure. A selector valve is switched between a first state for allowing the supply of the second pilot pressure to decrease the torque converter pressure supplied to the torque converter and a second state for draining the second pilot pressure to increase the torque converter pressure. By controlling the selector valve, a control unit increases the torque converter pressure in a wide throttle high speed vehicle operation with the torque converter in a lockup state to ensure the lockup engagement and in a wide throttle starting operation with the torque converter in a non-lockup state to prevent an engine stall.

  • Patent number: 5908367
Abstract: A fluid is guided inside a spool in which an orifice and drain holes are formed. The spool is displaced according to a hydraulic fluid pressure difference across the orifice. An outflow port, which is always connected with the orifice, and a drain passage, which overlaps with the drain holes according to a displacement position of the spool, are formed in the casing housing the spool. A stopper that limits the spool displacement beyond a position at which the overlap between the drain holes and drain passage is maximized is further provided. In this way, drainage of a fluid via the drain holes and drain passage is maintained at a maximum level even when fluid flows into the spool at a flow rate exceeding a predetermined level, and sharp increases of fluid flow rate from the orifice are thereby suppressed. By limiting excessive displacement of the spool, hysteresis is also prevented from occurring in the flow rate characteristics.
