  • Patent number: 11216093
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus that detect computing device inputs by a pointing body are disclosed. One method includes detecting user inputs based on a received set of physical touches of a pointing body pressing an operation surface of a computing device indicating a pressed state of the operation surface detected by a pressure sensor, detecting a make event comprising a first physical touch including a first pressure value that is greater than or equal to a make threshold pressure value based on the detected user inputs, and utilizing a first threshold as the make threshold for use in detecting a first round of the make event and a second threshold, which is less than the first threshold, as the make threshold for use in detecting subsequent rounds of the make event within a first predetermined multi-click detection period of time. Systems and apparatus for performing the method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9354795
Abstract: A computer system displays an object on a touch surface and detects multiple touch points on the touch surface in proximity to the displayed object. Next, the computer system detects one or more touch point movements originating from one or more of the plurality of touch points and determines a type of sector in which each of the touch point movements enters. In turn, when one of the touch point movements enters a rotate sector, the computer system performs a rotate command on the object.

  • Patent number: 8581857
Abstract: An electrostatic capacity type position detecting device having increased scanning speed is provided. The device includes a signal supplying electrode including a plurality of electrodes arranged in parallel with each other in a first direction, and a receiving electrode also including a plurality of electrodes arranged in parallel with each other in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A one-shot pulse having a predetermined time width is applied sequentially to the plurality of electrodes of the signal supplying electrode at a frequency equal to an integral multiple of 200 kHz. In other words, the sequential application of the one-shot pulse occurs with a time difference that is shorter than (e.g., 1/N of) the predetermined time width. A current change caused at rising and falling edges of the one-shot pulse is detected through the receiving electrode, to thereby indicate a position on the position detecting device.

  • Patent number: 8570280
Abstract: An approach is provided that filters out inadvertent contact with a touch pad input device. A filter area is defined within a surface of a touch pad input device that is accessible from an information handling system, such as a computer system. When a user of the information handling system contacts the surface of the touch pad, an input stream is received. The input stream includes an origination point where contact was initially made by the user. If the origination point is within the defined filter area, then the input stream is filtered out (not processed). On the other hand, if the origination point is outside of the defined filter area, then the input stream is processed by the information handling system.

  • Publication number: 20130132885
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein that generally involve allowing movement of windows or other user interface objects back and forth between a touch screen display and a non-touch display using only touch inputs. In one embodiment, a “send” touch gesture performed on a window displayed on the touch screen display causes automatic movement of the window to the non-touch display. A tab corresponding to the moved window is then displayed on the touch screen display. The tab can be used to interact with the window using touch inputs, even though the window has been moved to a non-touch display. For example, a “retrieve” touch gesture can be performed on the tab to move the window back to the touch screen display, or a “select” touch gesture can be performed on the tab to bring the moved window to the front and give the moved window focus.
