  • Patent number: 6449971
Abstract: An air-conditioning system capable of always effectively performing the heating function by selectively using one of a cooling circuit and a heating circuit sharing a variable displacement type compressor is disclosed. An electromagnetic capacity control valve (43) controls the discharge capacity of a variable displacement type compressor (25) in response to the differential pressure between the discharge pressure Pd of a discharge chamber (132) and the suction pressure Ps of a suction chamber (131). The energization and deenergization of the capacity control valve (43) is controlled by a control unit (59). When a cooling command switch (63) is turned on, the control unit (59) deenergizes a switching valve (29) thereby to control the cooling operation while at the same time controlling the discharge capacity by the capacity control valve (43).

  • Patent number: 6447258
Abstract: A valve body adjusts opening of a supply passage in response to the position in a valve chamber. A pressure-sensitive member is moved in accordance with the pressure difference between two pressure monitoring points, which are located in an external refrigerant circuit. The movement of the pressure-sensitive member affects the position of the valve body such that the compressor displacement is changed to reduce fluctuations in the pressure difference. A solenoid changes force applied to the valve body so that a set pressure difference, which is a reference value for changing the position of the valve body by the pressure-sensitive member, is changed.

  • Patent number: 6425254
Abstract: A controller for a compressor selects a control procedure from a normal displacement control procedure and a temporary control procedure based on information detected by a detector. When the normal displacement control procedure is selected, the controller sends a current, the value of which is based on the detected information, to an electromagnetic actuator. When the temporary displacement control procedure is selected, the controller sends a current having a specific value to the actuator to maximize a target compressor suction pressure. When switching from the temporary displacement control procedure to the normal displacement control procedure, the controller changes the value of the current supplied to the electromagnetic actuator according to a pattern, which is determined based on the detected information, over a predetermined period.

  • Publication number: 20020069658
Abstract: A control apparatus that promptly increases the displacement of a compressor after the compressor is started while liquefied refrigerant is lingering in an external circuit. The control apparatus includes a restricting passage. The restricting passage is located in a first pressure introduction passage, through which the pressure of the first pressure monitoring point flows to the control valve. The restricting passage decreases the pressure of refrigerant that flows through the passage. When the compressor is started while liquefied refrigerant is lingering in the external circuit and the pressure of the first pressure monitoring point is abruptly increased, the restricting passage reduces the increase of the pressure that is detected by the control valve. Therefore, the displacement of the compressor is promptly increased.

  • Patent number: 6389824
Abstract: A controller controls a displacement of a compressor which is installed in a refrigerant circuit of an air-conditioning system. The controller has a pressure difference detector. An air conditioning switch turns the air conditioning system on. A temperature detector detects the temperature in a compartment. A control valve controls the displacement of the compressor such that the pressure difference detected by the pressure difference detector approaches a target value. A computer determines the target value. The computer changes the target value, depending on the detected temperature. The computer limits the target value to a target value limit. After a predetermined time expires from when the air conditioning switch is turned on, the computer changes the limit. This permits the displacement of the compressor to be promptly and reliably changed.

  • Patent number: 6390786
Abstract: According to the structure for damping the pulsations of discharge pressure of a compressor of the present invention, in the annular discharge chamber 28 divided on the outer circumferential side in the rear housing 5, two bulkhead sections 35 are extended from positions on both sides of the outlet 23 in the circumferential direction in such a manner that they are separate from each other. The end portion of each bulkhead section 35 is extended to halfway between the first discharge port section 20 and the second discharge port section 21. The flow path from the first discharge port section 20 to the outlet 23 is directed to the opposite side to the outlet 23 and then turned back to the outlet 23. Therefore, the length of the flow path from the first discharge port section 20 to the outlet 23 becomes relatively long.

  • Patent number: 6385979
Abstract: A control valve is located in a variable displacement compressor used in a refrigerant circuit. The control valve operates such that the pressure difference between two pressure monitoring points in the refrigerant circuit seeks a predetermined target value. A controller determines the target value of the pressure difference in accordance with external information that represents the required cooling performance. The target value of the pressure difference is represented by a duty ratio applied to the control valve. When the acceleration pedal is pressed beyond a predetermined level, the controller limits the duty ratio. Therefore, the compressor torque does not hinder quick vehicle acceleration. Also, the cooling performance is not lowered unless it is necessary.

  • Patent number: 6385982
Abstract: An air-conditioning system with a refrigerant circulation circuit, which has improved control precision for maintaining a compartment temperature and improved response characteristics. The refrigerant circulation circuit includes a variable displacement type compressor, the discharge capacity of which is controlled by a control valve. The control valve detects a differential pressure between two pressure monitoring points in the refrigerant circulation circuit as an index for estimating the refrigerant discharge capacity of the variable displacement type compressor and performs feedback control of the discharge capacity of the compressor such that the differential pressure converges to a set differential pressure. A controller determines or recomputes the set differential pressure based on information from a mode switching unit or an air-flow-rate switch and instructs the control valve to change the set differential pressure accordingly.
