Abstract: A user selection assistance apparatus includes: a registration unit that registers information of a plurality of users, which includes biometric features of the respective users, in advance and creates a list; a biometric detection unit that newly detects a current biometric feature of one user; a determination unit that compares the biometric feature that is detected to the biometric features that are registered, and determines a degree of similarity therebetween; a user choosing unit that chooses, from the list, one or more registered users having a biometric feature the degree of similarity of which satisfies a predetermined reference and creates a chosen user list; a display unit that displays the chosen user list; an input unit that receives selection of a specific registered user from the chosen user list; and an execution processing unit that executes predetermined processing when the input unit receives the selection of the specific registered user.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus (50) stores read image data obtained by reading a document, display image data generated from the read image data, and image specifying information thereof, and transmits the display image data etc. to a display device (60). Receiving the print instruction having the image specifying information added from the display device (60), the image forming apparatus (50) reads and prints the read image data specified by the image specifying information thereof (step 472). If a modification object is attached to the received data, the modification object and positional information thereof are converted to match the resolution or size of the read image data, and the converted result is combined with the read image data and printed.

Abstract: An input device is connected to a display device and an image forming apparatus having an energy saving function. When a prescribed operation instruction suggesting that edition of an image will end soon is received before receiving a print instruction, the input device issues an activation signal causing recovery from an energy saving state to a ready state to the image forming apparatus.
