  • Patent number: 7656079
Abstract: A heating device in which uniform heating of an article to be processed is possible even in the case a temperature change which leads to a loss of the uniformity of the temperature distribution in a narrowly delineated area, and in which a reduction in the size of the device is possible. The heating device has a plurality of heaters, each heater having a single bulb of transparent material in which there is a filament that is divided in the axial direction into several filament parts and the respective filament parts are supplied with power independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 7457069
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention prevent a magnetic head from coming into contact with a protrusion on a magnetic disk. In one embodiment, a head gimbal assembly includes a piezoelectric actuator for changing the flying height of a head/slider assembly. The address of a protrusion on a magnetic disk is preregistered in a nonvolatile memory. When a seek operation or following operation is to be performed, the head/slider assembly flies at a reference flying height. Before the protrusion passes below the head/slider assembly, an operating voltage is applied to the piezoelectric actuator to increase the flying height. After the protrusion passes below the head/slider assembly, the head/slider assembly flies at the reference flying height with operating voltage application stopped.

  • Publication number: 20070253680
Abstract: The entire caption is displayed within a display frame area through reducing the font size of the caption character string, scrolling the caption character string, or dividing the caption by a paragraph unit to be displayed separating more than once. When the entire character string cannot be displayed in a display frame area, the character string is divided by a word unit and through adding a continuation mark at the end of the caption, it is possible to inform the user that there is a continued part in the caption.

  • Patent number: 6940684
Abstract: When a head passes over a track with a projected item in a seek operation, the CPU delays a seek start time to conduct the seek by changing a period of time from a seek start position to a position of the track with a projected item. Or, the CPU conducts seek control by changing a speed table. Or, the CPU changes a sequence of items of a tag queue to obtain a seek locus not passing the projected item. By the control operation, a seek error due to thermal asperity is prevented and the head is not damaged. This also prevents appearance of a new projected item produced by contact between the magneto-resistive head and the projected item on the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6937031
Abstract: A capacitance sensor used as a fingerprint sensor is provided which includes, in addition to a sensor array (11) in which sensor cells (100) each with a sense electrode are disposed in the form of an array, a canceling dummy block (14) having, disposed in an area having no relation with any object under detection, one column of dummy cells (141) corresponding to each row in the sensor array (11) and each having a dummy electrode nearly identical in parasitic capacitance to the sense electrode of the sensor cell (100). Also, a differentiation output unit (183) is provided to differentiate between a sensed voltage Vsig sensed at the sensor array (11) by sensing circuit (13) and sensed voltage Vdmy sensed at the canceling dummy block (14), thereby eliminating the influence of a variation in parasitic capacitance Cp, caused by a production tolerance.

  • Patent number: 6882164
Abstract: A capacitance sensor usable as a fingerprint sensor is provided in which a timing controller (16) provides such a switching control as to first cause a switch (SA) in a sensor cell (100-k) to turn on to set the potential at a sense electrode to a reference potential and then a switch SB to turn on after the switch (SA) is turned off, whereby charge is stored from the sensor cell (100-k) into a reference capacitance Cf1 of a sensing circuit (13-k), the sensitivity of sensing the capacitance is raised by increasing the number of times the charge storage is repeated and only signal components are extracted by reducing noise components by averaging.
