Patent number: 5176537Abstract: A connector for retaining a metal terminal having an engagement portion therein. The connector includes a connector housing having a terminal receiving hole for receiving the terminal therein. The connector housing has a flexible retaining member extending therefrom which is engageable with the engagement portion of the terminal when the terminal is in a completely engaged position. A retaining reinforcement member is insertable into the connector housing to retain the flexible retaining member engaged in the terminal. Specifically, the reinforcement member includes a groove defined by opposing retaining walls. When the reinforcement member is inserted into the connector housing, the flexible retaining piece is positioned in the groove and surrounded on opposite sides by the retaining walls which prevent lateral displacement of the retaining member.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1991Date of Patent: January 5, 1993Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Masakuni Samejima, Takayuki Yamamoto

Patent number: 5108310Abstract: An electrical connector (11) including a housing (13), arms (27) defectable into a space (31) disposed under the arms (27), and a spacer block (17) finally positioned in the space (31) for preventing involuntary deflection of the arms. A projection (27a) of the arm (27) engages with a splicer in the connector (11) to prevent the splicer from coming out of the connector. The spacer block (17) has devices (35a, 35b) by which the spacer block (17) is placed and engaged in a temporary position in the connector, and has an inclined portion (37) on which an implement for disengaging the projection (27a) from the splicer is guided accurately to a forked end (27a, 27b) of the arm (27).Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1991Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Yoshitsugu Sawada, Takayuki Yamamoto, Masakuni Samejima

Patent number: 4973261Abstract: To increase the rigidity of the cutter plate portions formed with two open slots for cutting a wire insulator pressure-fitted thereinto, the wire insulator pressure-cut connector terminal comprises a base plate portion, a brimmed channel-shaped frame formed with two opposing cutter plate portions and two brim portions, and a reinforcement portion formed with two brim holder portions. Further, since the brimmed channel-shaped frame can be formed by bending a blank plate material with two mated dies having no hollow cavity between the two dies, the pressure-cut terminal can be bent into an accurate shape and in precise dimensions for providing a higher reliability of the connector terminal.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1990Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Yuji Hatagishi, Masakuni Samejima

Patent number: 4925398Abstract: Disclosed herein is a connector which comprises a female housing and a male housing to be fitted to said female housing for electrical connection therebetween. The connector has a locking structure including a locking arm having a locking edge portion provided on one of the housings and a locking projection provided on the other housing. The locking arm is flexibly supported on either the female or male housing and the locking projection is provided so as to be locked with the locking edge portion when the female and male housings are properly fitted together. The locking projection is constructed so as to camber the locking arm when the male housing is inserted into the female housing, thereby causing a restoring force to be generated in the locking arm. Further, the locking structure includes a member for increasing the restoring force to secure the fitting between the locking edge portion and locking projection without increasing the force required to disengage the locking structure.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1988Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Masakuni Samejima, Kiyohito Fukuda, Mitsuru Matsumoto

Patent number: 4917620Abstract: A waterproof electrical connector. The waterproof electrical connector is comprised of a male connector housing and the female connector housing. The male connector housing has an annular enclosure around an outer periphery thereof to form an annular cavity therebetween. A seal ring is inserted into the annular cavity. The above-mentioned seal ring has a first section of smaller wall thickness to leave a space, when inserted into the cavity, forwardly opening and a second section of larger wall thickness extending rearwardly of said first section to resiliently press fit the annular enclosure, the end wall and the outer periphery. The female connector housing has a sleeve formed forwardly of an outer periphery thereof and adapted to be inserted into said space. Due to the existence of the second section of larger wall thickness in the seal ring, the turning over thereof which takes place at the time of engaging and disengaging the prior art waterproof connector is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1988Date of Patent: April 17, 1990Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Masakuni Samejima, Kiyohito Fukuda, Mitsuru Matsumoto

Patent number: 4915643Abstract: Disclosed herein is a connector which comprises a female housing and a male housing to be inserted and fitted into the female housing for establishing electrical connection therebetween. A flexible locking arm having a locking aperture is provided on either the male or female housing, and a locking projection is provided on the other housing for generating a restoring force in the locking arm by cambering the locking arm when the male housing is inserted into the female housing. The locking projection engages with the locking aperture by the restoring force in the locking arm when the male and female housings are properly fitted together. The connector further comprises a member provided on the locking arm for producing a fitting-confirmation sound by the restoring force in the locking arm when the locking projection becomes engaged with the locking aperture.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1988Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Masakuni Samejima, Kiyohito Fukuda, Mitsuru Matsumoto
