  • Patent number: 8185310
Abstract: A navigation device and the like capable of appropriately alleviating an amount of communicating information between the navigation server and a navigation device, from the viewpoint of guiding a user to a destination point via the navigation device, on the basis of a support route which is set by the navigation server. Of the links constituting a support route R which connects the current position p1 and the destination position p2 of the user, the links satisfying an extraction condition set according to a changing pattern of a road type are extracted as target links. Also, the target links, that is, the link having high necessity from the viewpoint of guiding the user, with regard to the changing pattern of the road type, is recognized by the navigation device 200 on the basis of communication between the navigation server 100 and the navigation device 200.

  • Patent number: 8103440
Abstract: Provided is a navigation system which can contribute to guidance of a moving device such as a vehicle to a destination along a route appropriate from a viewpoint of energy economy. According to second information (VIN, Lj, OPj) on a second probe car Q2, an eco-index ECOj is evaluated for each combination of a link identifier Lj and a vehicle identifier VIN according a first function f1. According to the evaluation result, a second function f2 is set. According to support request information (VIN) on a support subject car Q, an eco-index ECOk is evaluated for an individual link identifier Lk according to the second function f2. • Patent number: 7865305
Abstract: A navigation server and the like capable of making a navigation device 200 output a route having adequacy in view of various circumstances is provided. A navigation server 100 recognizes a navigation route r(k) for guiding the automobile 2 to the destination position p2 which is set according to the first algorithm by the navigation device 200. Further, a support route R(k) for guiding the automobile 2 from a current position (or a departure position) p1 to the destination position p2 which is set according to the first algorithm is recognized. Still further, a first index c1(k) representing an adequacy of the navigation route r(k) in view of the second algorithm is evaluated. On condition that the first index c1(k) satisfies a predetermined condition, the support route R(k) is output in place of the navigation route r(k) by the navigation device 200.

  • Patent number: 7653480
Abstract: A system for providing a vehicle with traffic information reflecting the real traffic condition in each traveling direction is provided, even if the vehicle travels in either branch direction in a branch point area including the branch point. A traffic information server collects information on the time required for traveling in the branch point area from an information providing vehicle and generates information on the time required for traveling in each traveling direction in the branch point area on the basis of the information. Upon receiving a request for providing the traffic information from a navigation system of a vehicle the traffic information server transmits the information on the time required for traveling in each traveling direction or the information on the time required for traveling on each route in the branch point area generated from the above information.

  • Patent number: 7590483
Abstract: To provide a system that can provide traffic information to drivers of automobiles or the like with high prediction precision. In a traffic information management system according to the present invention, a first processing unit 110 recognizes a transition pattern of the necessary travel time for an automobile 20 for each unit road. A second processing unit 120 recognizes a route including one or more unit roads by communicating with a navigation system 200. For each unit road included in the route, a third processing unit 130 searches for a “resembling pattern” that resembles a “reference pattern” from a “past pattern”. A fourth processing unit 140 predicts the necessary travel time required for the automobile to travel the route or a unit road included in the route based on the resembling pattern. A communication processing unit 150 transmits traffic information including the predicted necessary travel time to the navigation system 200.

  • Publication number: 20070088489
Abstract: According to a navigation device in accordance with the present invention, only when there is a difference having a predetermined magnitude between a first traffic variable measured by a first processor and a second traffic variable based on traffic information distributed from a navigation server, the first traffic variable is transmitted to the navigation server as traffic information. This prevents new traffic information from being transmitted to the navigation server from the navigation device mounted in a vehicle or a probe car when the new traffic information is not worth updating of the traffic information stored in the navigation server, thus restraining a waste of traffic information transmission cost.

  • Patent number: 7158879
Abstract: The invention provides a navigation apparatus and a navigation server capable of providing information to the user enabling comparison between a route that the user is actually traveling and a different route. According to a car navigation apparatus 200, a route setup unit 230 sets up plural routes. An actual route recognition unit 231 recognizes an “actual route” of the vehicle M. Further, a virtual route recognition unit 232 recognizes a “virtual route” that differs from the actual route. Moreover, a virtual travel information recognition unit 240 recognizes a “virtual travel information” containing a virtual position of the vehicle M on the virtual route. The actual travel information, the actual route, the virtual travel information and the virtual route are displayed on a liquid crystal panel 250.

  • Patent number: 6757609
Abstract: A vehicle navigation server for providing traffic information, which is useful and has a suitable data amount, to a vehicle navigation device, so as to make the vehicle have a comfortable travel. The server calculates at least one proposed travel based on input data including a current or start position and a destination of the vehicle, and defines a map mesh consisting of mesh units on the proposed travel route. The server extracts traffic information relating to each mesh unit from a traffic information storage device in turn, where traffic information relating to the mesh unit which includes the start or current position is obtained first. The server monitors a total amount of extracted information, and terminates information extraction for the following mesh units when the total amount becomes equal to or larger than a predetermined value. The server then sends the traffic information to a vehicle navigation device.

  • Publication number: 20040044472
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system for selecting a suitable travel route based on transmitted traffic information. A server calculates a proposed travel route based on input data and defines communication points so as to newly extract traffic information for an area from each communication point to the destination from a traffic information storage device, where a point from which a detour around a place noted in the traffic information is included. The server stores data for identifying the registrant, the proposed travel route, and the communication points in a storage device and sends the traffic information and communication points to a vehicle navigation device. The sent traffic information includes detailed information about a section from the current or start position of the vehicle to the closest communication point to the vehicle on the way to the destination and simplified information about a section from this point to the destination.

  • Patent number: 5551390
Abstract: A fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine has at least one unit injector for injecting fuel into each cylinder, and an actuator provided for each of the at least one unit injector for varying the stroke of a plunger of the each unit injector. When a rise ratio of rotational speed of the engine calculated exceeds a predetermined value, the actuator is shifted to a predetermined position, thereby preventing an abnormal rise in the rotational speed of the engine. Similarly, when a no-load condition of the engine is detected, the actuator is shifted to a predetermined position.
