  • Publication number: 20090188114
Abstract: A cutting device capable of heating a blade uniformly and to an appropriate temperature and capable of cutting a member with small cutting resistance at a low angle (acute angle) is provided. Electricity is passed through a metallic thin blade to cause the blade to self-heat, and this enables the blade to cut an unvulcanized rubber member with small resistance and with restricted deformation of the member. The thin blade is durable because of its strip shaped shape and can be uniformly heated because it self-heats by an electric current.

  • Patent number: 6988880
Abstract: Apparatus for highly reliably cutting a rubber strip (12) even when reinforcement cords are embedded therein, and for shaping the upper surfaces of the trailing end of a resultant rubber band member (15) and the leading end of the remaining rubber strip (12) to have a slope inclined with a small angle relative to the general plane of the rubber strip (12) or rubber band member (15). An anvil (20) and a press cutter/shaper (39) are arranged opposite to each other, and a cutting blade (38) is gradually inserted into an anvil groove (22), with at least one surface (38a, 38) of the blade (38) pressed against a periphery (22a) of the anvil groove (22). The cutting blade (38) protrudes from the boundary between inclined a pair of shaping surfaces (34, 35) towards the anvil 20, and has a cutting blade angle (F) that is smaller than angle (G) between the inclined shaping surfaces (34, 35).

  • Patent number: 4830693
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a tire in which an inner circumference of a tire carcass is wrapped around a tire bead by being grasped by an expanding air bladder against a stopper plate. The stopper plate, with the bladder still inflated is raised relative to the bead and main tire carcass and then moved into the annular portion of the tire carcass to encase the bead.
