  • Patent number: 6667133
Abstract: A gelating agent for an alkaline cell is a cross-linked polymer (A) comprising (meth)acrylic acid and/or its alkali metal salt as a main constituent monomer unit and obtained by an aqueous solution polymerization or a reversed phase suspension polymerization and satisfies the following required conditions (1), (2). The gelating agent has good draining property, satisfactorily high speed charging property of the alkaline electrolytic solution and is therefore effective to produce cells with little unevenness of the charging amount of the electrolytic solution and having uniform quality by mass production and an alkaline cell using the gelating agent is provided with durable discharge time and remarkably excellent impact resistance for a long duration.

  • Patent number: 6303711
Abstract: The present invention can provide a water-absorbent or water-retention material comprising water-absorbent resin derived from monomer unit components comprising 40 to 99 wt. % of hydroxyl alkyl (meth)acrylate, 1 to 60 wt. % of (meth)acrylic acid and/or alkali metal salt thereof and 0.00001 to 3 wt. % of crosslinking agent; and a water-absorbent or water-retention material comprising water-swellable polymer which is obtained by further thermally crosslinking a particles of partially alkaline neutralized product of a copolymer of 20 to 99 mol % of acrylamide and 1 to 80 mol % of acrylic acid. The water-absorbent or water-retention material of the present invention is not readily subject to an influence of salts, and the absorbency does not deteriorate with respect to an aqueous solution containing a great amount of metallic ion of salts.

  • Patent number: 6237341
Abstract: A boiler scale collecting device enables collecting and recovery of most boiler scale particulates (p) in a steam flow line (f) in a steam pipe (02) extending from a power generation steam boiler to an inlet (01′) of a power generation steam turbine (01). The steam pipe (02), of constant inner diameter (d), extends from the boiler side to the inlet (01′) of the steam turbine (01), and turns at direction turning portion (e) from a vertical steam pipe (02′) to a lateral steam pipe (02″) near the inlet (01″) of the steam turbine (01). The vertical steam pipe (02′) is elongated beyond the direction turning portion (e) to form an elongated portion (02′a) having a lower end (02″a). The direction turning portion (e), including the vertical steam pipe (02′) and the lateral steam pipe (02″), and the elongated portion (02′a) are made in an integral unit of forged steel.

  • Patent number: 5838863
Abstract: This invention relates to a cable whose inner opening space has been sealed with a polyurethane resin formed with a polyurethane resin-forming sealing material comprising components (A) and (B). (A): a component comprising a dispersion (1) of a water-insoluble water absorbent resin (D) or its hydrogel in a polyol (C), wherein said resin (D) is formed by polymerizing in the polyol (C) a water soluble monomer or its precursor and crosslinking agent and/or polysaccharide; and (B): a component comprising an organic polyisocyanate (2); and sealing process of the same. This invention provides a cables having an excellent water preventing property without the risk of falling-off of the sealing material at the time of cable connection.

  • Patent number: 5664523
Abstract: A material for treating excretions of pet animals which is obtainable by combining pulp (A), inorganic substance (B), guar gum (C) and optionally water-absorbent resin (D) to form guranules. The weight ratios of (A) to (B) to (C) to (D) is 15-55:15-55:5-40: 5-45.The treating material is capable of absorbing liquids from excretions quickly, forming into clumps when absorbing liquid and maintaining the shape of the clump even when handled for removal.

  • Patent number: 4564232
Abstract: An automobile door with an inner plate and an outer plate wherein the outer plate has a panel formed from a synthetic resin. The panel is attached to a rigid metallic plate, such as steel, through a plurality of fastening holes formed in the longitudinal direction of the synthetic panel. One of the fastening holes near the forward end of the panel has a diameter substantially that of the fastening means. The remaining fastening holes are formed so as to allow longitudinal expansion and contraction of the synthetic panel. A lip portion is formed near the lower edge of the synthetic panel to engage with the inner plate of the door.
