  • Patent number: 4919096
Abstract: A control unit outputs a data through an execution of each frequency of an engine driving operation condition such as an operation amount of an accelerator pedal, an engine speed, and a gear position. Frequency distribution of the engine driving condition is made through an addition processing and a subtraction processing in an area division. The present target throttle opening degree is determined through an area division judgment in the control unit. An actual throttle opening degree is adjusted so as to become a target throttle opening degree. The target throttle opening degree is searched through a map for searching the target throttle opening degree. The obtained engine control conditions are stored and memorized successively in the control unit, and an engine control characteristic is selected in sequence according to the memorized results. An operation characteristic corresponding to the driver's driving operation is selected and an optimum operability performance is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4907558
Abstract: An internal combustion engine control apparatus in which upon detection of transient state of the engine such as acceleration, deceleration or the like, the amount of fuel supply to the engine is corrected by using transient correcting coefficients which are determined previously and updated through learning procedure. The correcting coefficient is updated on the basis of the result of comparison of the air-fuel ratio detected upon occurrance of the transient state with a predetermined reference value.

  • Patent number: 4905653
Abstract: A fuel adhesion percentage of an injected fuel to a surrounding portion of an intake valve is determined in accordance with a fluctuation value of an air-fuel ratio correction coefficient and a fluctuation value of a signal of an air-fuel ratio detecting sensor or a signal of an oxygen amount detecting sensor. Each adhesion percentage of the injected fuel is divided and stored in each division area of a characteristic memory map of a control unit. The adhesion percentage of the injected fuel is stored in a memory of the control unit and is determined in accordance with present throttle valve opening degree and present engine coolant temperature by the characteristic memory map. The adhesion percentage of the injected fuel is obtained through a learning control process in the control unit. An air-fuel ratio correction in a transient period is carried out smoothly.

  • Patent number: 4708108
Abstract: A method of controlling the idle speed of an internal combustion engine is disclosed, in which the rotations of the internal combustion engine is detected by a crank angle sensor, the flow rate of air supplied to the engine is detected by an air flow sensor, the amount of fuel supplied to the engine is controlled by a fuel supply unit, an idle condition of the engine is detected by another sensor, and an abnormal condition with the engine speed exceeding a predetermined level in idle state is detected by an electronic control unit by use of electrical signals from the sensors. The number of times fuel is supplied to the engine is counted, and the fuel supply is suspended each time the count of the counter reaches a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4697566
Abstract: A method of controlling fuel injection to an internal combustion engine by electronic circuits. A plurality of cylinders installed in the internal combustion engine are divided into two groups and two electronic circuits for controlling the respective two cylinder groups are provided. By comparing between the outputs of the two electronic circuits, whether the operations of the respective electronic circuits are normal or not is judged. The fuel injection controlled by the electronic circuit which has been judged to be abnormal is stopped, while the fuel injection controlled by the electronic circuit which has been judged to be normal is continued. Thus, the internal combustion engine is driven solely by one group of cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4566420
Abstract: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is arranged such that, for each of the operating condition sections (A, B, C) of an internal combustion engine (1), a deviation (K.sub.l) of a feedback control value in the section from a reference value is detected and written in a region in a memory corresponding to the section in the form of a map, and the deviation (K.sub.l) is read out such as to be used as a correction value when control is effected in relation to the corresponding operating condition section. In such control apparatus, whether or not the number of regions in the memory into which deviation values for operating condition sections (T.sub.p, N) have already been written has reached a predetermined value is examined.

  • Patent number: 4498444
Abstract: In a method of controlling a 4-stroke cycle internal combustion engine for automobile, when only a positional signal, which is generated each time the crank shaft of engine is rotated once, is first generated after the start of engine, only the fuel injection control is immediately made. When both the positional signal and a reference cylinder signal which is generated each time the crank shaft is rotated twice are generated after the start of engine, the fuel injection control and ignition control are made.

  • Patent number: 4366541
Abstract: In a method and a system for engine control an engine control signal is generated on the basis of a signal produced at each moment from at least one sensor for detecting the operating condition of the engine, the control signal being used for engine control. In order to attain the proper engine operating condition, data representative of the detection signal from the sensor is adjusted in advance, and data for correcting the sensor output is calculated from said adjustment value, the correction data being stored in a memory. While the engine is running, the data representative of the detection signal from the sensor is corrected by the correction data stored in the memory, and this corrected detection signal representative data is used to produce the control signal.
