  • Patent number: 9311577
Abstract: An image forming apparatus that is capable of decreasing the stopping time during which the image forming apparatus stops and of increasing productivity. An image forming unit executes print jobs in order. An operation unit receives an instruction inputted by a user. A generation unit generates a setting job concerning a device setting based on a user's instruction inputted through the operation unit. A setting unit sets execution timing of the setting job generated by the generation unit based on a user's instruction inputted through the operation unit. A control unit stops an operation of the image forming unit and to execute the setting job generated by the generation unit at the execution timing set by the setting unit, and resumes the operation of the image forming unit after the setting job finishes.

  • Patent number: 8264744
Abstract: An instruction of image processing for an image and an object included in the image is received from a client. The operation environment of the client is stored as the metadata of the object included in the image. When an instruction is input to re-evaluate the attribute of the object included in the image, a record is made as metadata indicating that the attribute has been re-evaluated. Upon receiving another image different from the image, when the operation environment of a client which has given an instruction to perform image processing of the other image is identical to the operation environment of the client which is stored by the storage unit, and the record is in the recording unit indicating that the attribute has been re-evaluated, the attribute of the received other image is re-evaluated.

  • Patent number: 7880920
Abstract: In a system in which a print controller and an image forming apparatus are communicably connected, a first paper information to be used by the print controller and a second paper information to be used by the image forming apparatus are both held in the print controller and the image forming apparatus. The first paper information and the second paper information include a common ID for paper data that corresponds between the first and second paper information. In response to a restore instruction, both sets of the first paper information or both sets of the second paper information are merged. ID duplication is eliminated by changing the IDs in regard to paper data in which IDs are duplicated as a result of merging. The first and second paper information to be used by the print controller and the image forming apparatus are updated based on the result of merging.

  • Patent number: 7844129
Abstract: Even when a CPU gains higher performance and a distributed computing environment is being put in place, it is not easy to follow the speed of hardware image processing implemented by dedicated hardware. Hence, jobs of filter processing having a heavy operation load and low distributability are selectively and intensively input to a small number of resources having performance as high as possible. On the other hand, since the color conversion processing and gamma processing have high distributability, even when jobs are input to many resources having low performance, an improvement of the processing speed can be expected. Therefor, color conversion processing and gamma processing distribute jobs to many resources.
