Abstract: A tabulation system for delivery to a medium of data information suitably arranged for tabulation of character series and ruled lines, and a control for controlling the data information arrangement applied to the medium. The control operates to allow the medium to sequentially deliver out control information for defining desired vertical ruled lines (columns), information regarding a horizontal ruled line (row) defining the upper side of a field between adjacent vertical ruled lines, information regarding character series to be written in the field and control commands for the writing, and information regarding a horizontal ruled line defining the lower side of the field.

Abstract: A driving circuit for a gas discharge panel comprises display cells between first and second electrodes and control cells between the first electrodes and third electrodes which are in one-to-one correspondence with the first electrodes. The circuit comprises a small number of diodes connected to each third electrode and transistors, fewer in number than the third electrodes, divided into a small number of subgroups. The diodes connected to each third electrode are connected to one of the transistors of the respective subgroups. The transistors connected to only one of the third electrodes are rendered nonconductive at any given time.

Abstract: A voltage switching device operable by an electric power source comprises a gas discharge panel that includes opposing first and second electrodes and gas discharge cells therebetween. Resistors are connected between the power source and the respective first electrodes and switching means are connected between the power source and the second electrodes. In consideration of the power source terminal voltage and of the firing voltage of the gas discharge cells, the resistance values of the resistors are determined so as to prevent the gas discharge from spreading over the entire area of each gas discharge cell.

Abstract: Apparatus for driving a plasma discharge display employs a sustaining voltage pulse train source for quiescently energizing the display electrodes. To modify the display presentation, e.g., to initiate discharges at a new cell or terminate that previously obtaining, one of the sustaining voltage pulses is suppressed and an appropriate display changing signal introduced in its place.Because the change signals are developed during the time interval otherwise allotted to a sustaining pulse, there is no requirement for an interval between sustaining pulses for display modifying signaling. Accordingly, the sustaining pulse rate can be rapid, resulting in a bright display with good operating margins.
