    Abstract: There is provided a light control device that solves various practical problems, including the adhesive strength between layers, of a light control device comprising a polymer/liquid crystal composite derived from a polymerizable composition comprising an acrylic monomer and ITO layers. In the light control device, ITO layers are respectively bonded to both surfaces of a polymer/liquid crystal composite material layer in which a liquid crystal material is dispersed in a polymer material obtained by polymerizing an acrylic monomer, an amount of the acrylic monomer is in the range of 30 to 45% by weight based on a total amount of the acrylic monomer and the liquid crystal material, and silane coupling agent layers are respectively interposed between the polymer/liquid crystal composite material layer and the ITO layers.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an aerated fat-based confectionery that, unlike a conventional shell-type or tapered shape, has a novel shape, that is, a cubic or rectangular parallelepiped shape having top, bottom, and side surfaces in contact with and perpendicularly to each other, or any shape such as an animal or flower shape having a given thickness, has a light texture and a sharp melt-in-the-mouth sensation, does not require alignment in packaging. The confectionery can be obtained by aerating a fat-based confectionery mass having a fat content of 30 to 60% by weight such as chocolate to a specific gravity of 0.5 to 1.0 and cutting the aerated mass with a heated wire so that the side surface is perpendicularly to the top and bottom surfaces.

Accordingly, the urea water solution can be surely prevented from entering into the vehicle compartment even in case of the breakage of the urea tank, and the mistake of supplying the wrong liquid into the wrong supply (pouring) port tank which may be made by confusing the ports can be avoided.

    Abstract: The orthoalkylation catalyst for phenols of the invention is one produced by calcining a catalyst precursor comprising basic magnesium carbonate (a) and magnesium oxide (b) optionally together with manganese oxalate (c), the basic magnesium carbonate (a) and magnesium oxide (b) being mixed together at a weight ratio ((a)/(b)) of 20/80 to 80/20. The process for producing an orthoalkylated phenol according to the invention comprises performing a vapor phase reaction of a phenol with an alkyl alcohol in the presence of the above orthoalkylation catalyst so that an orthoalkylated phenol is obtained. The invention enables obtaining an orthoalkylation catalyst for phenols which has high activity and high selectivity, has long catalytic life and exhibits more stable catalytic life than those of conventional orthoalkylation catalysts for phenols.

More than half of the circumferential surface of the tape guide body which contacts a video tape is covered with a sheet member of nonmagnetic material. This material has improved wear resistance and anti-corrosive properties, and exhibits less frictional resistance against the tape than the remainder of the guide body surface. Thus, the guide exterior surface forms a composite of layer of two different materials.

    Abstract: A process for preparing a tape guide cylinder is disclosed, which includes the steps of deep-drawing a sheet metal material progressively to form an elongated cylinder with a bottom, subjecting the resulting cylinder to flange-machining to form a flange at its open end, thereafter removing the bottom of the cylinder, subsequently trimming the flange from the cylinder, and finally subjecting the resulting cylinder at either of its ends to a beat-machining for finishing the shape of the elongated cylinder.The tape guide cylinder thus prepared may further be subjected at its circumference, to a precision finish for providing an outer diameter of less than 6 mm but more than 5.2 mm.
