  • Publication number: 20060140477
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes the following elements. An image data obtaining unit obtains image data. A sampling unit samples the image data. A statistic value determining unit determines a statistic value based on statistic information in a histogram with respect to a grayscale value of image data that is obtained by performing rough quantization and linear interpolation on the sampled image data. A correction-amount determining unit determines a correction amount to be used for image processing based on the statistic value. An image processing unit performs the image processing according to the correction amount.

  • Publication number: 20050195212
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide a color matching profile generating device that, in an apparatus having an input device and an output device, performs a color matching for the input device and the output device and reproduces favorable colors without depending on color characteristics of the devices. The color matching profile generating device can use an input device profile and an output device profile, in addition to a color conversion profile which defines color conversion characteristics in an absolute color space and generates a color matching profile for the input device and the output device. Since the color conversion profile defines the color conversion characteristics in the absolute color space, color conversion can be performed to image data obtained from the input device without depending on characteristics of the input device.

  • Publication number: 20050179918
Abstract: To provide a color matching system which enables reliably color-matched image data to be displayed on a display device without effort to perform color matching on applications. A color matching system is mounted on, for example, an image display device, and performs color conversion adapted to color characteristics of a display device. A graphics interface, such as a graphics device interface (GDI), generates image creating commands for image data generated according to the operation of an application, and the display image data is generated based on the image creating commands. The display image data is supplied to the display device after the display image data has been subjected to the color conversion by the color management module and the color space adjustment has been performed based on a color attribute file representing the color characteristics of the display device.

  • Publication number: 20050017991
Abstract: An aspect of the invention provides an image display apparatus that displays a plurality of input pixels which form input image data on a display section. In that case, each input pixel can be displayed in such a manner that display pixels having gradation values differing from the gradation value of the input pixel are combined. For example, when a pixel having a particular gradation value exists as an input pixel, the pixel is not displayed on the display section as it is being kept at the gradation value, but instead, is displayed in such a manner that a plurality of display pixels having gradation values differing from the gradation value of the input pixel are combined. As a result, the same gradation value is not displayed continuously. Therefore, this results in that the occurrence of crosstalk, which is problematical particularly in a TFD liquid-crystal panel, is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20040080516
Abstract: The invention provides an easy and simple method of converting the resolution of image data, which is capable of generating the high-resolution image data without incongruity, does not make a circuit in the display device complicated and does not increase the power consumption. This invention can include a portable terminal device, such as a mobile telephone or a PDA, that processes and displays image data transmitted from the outside. Image data with a plurality of grayscales can be displayed by controlling the display state of each pixel in a display unit in accordance with grayscale control pulses corresponding to the number of grayscales. For example, when a 64 grayscale display is performed, a grayscale level is defined using sixty four grayscale control pulses. Thus, it is possible to emit light from pixels in the display unit by sixty four grayscale levels.

  • Publication number: 20040061711
Abstract: The invention provides a method for converting resolution of image data which is capable of making a high-resolution image data without incompatibility by improving a viewing angle range when displaying low-resolution image data after resolution conversion. The image display device can be mounted in a mobile phone or PDA, processes and displays image data transmitted from the outside. Specifically, resolution-converted image data with an increased resolution is generated by creating a plurality of pixels from each pixel constituting the original acquired image data and increasing the number of the pixels. This is achieved by doubling each pixel of the original image data in the horizontal and vertical directions to make it four pixels. For the resolution-converted image data obtained by doing so, a viewing angle range adjustment is carried out.

  • Patent number: 6714204
Abstract: The present invention provides a system of transmitting image data from a server via a network or another communication path to a cellular phone or another terminal. In order to enhance the picture quality of displayed images, the system causes input image data to be subjected to a tone correction process and a halftoning process according to display characteristics of the terminal. Image processing packages are provided in both the server and the terminal. The system selectively uses these image processing packages according to their processing capacities. The server determines execution or non-execution of image processing according to the type of the terminal. When any image processing is carried out in the server, a control signal representing execution of the image processing is mapped to the processed image data and transmitted to the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20030179946
Abstract: The invention naturally enhances the sharpness of an image by performing appropriate sharpness processing. An image processing device receives input original image data, performs sharpness processing, and outputs correction image data. Specifically, the degree of the level change is detected from the original image data, and correction-reference-amount data, which provides a reference to determine the degree of sharpness correction, is determined based on the degree of the detected level change. Meanwhile, the relationship between correction amount by which the sharpness correction is performed and the correction reference amount is defined by a predetermined correction-amount characteristic pattern. The correction-amount calculating device calculates an adequate correction amount in accordance with the correction-amount characteristic pattern, and the sharpness processing means performs sharpness processing on the original image data in accordance with the correction amount.
