  • Patent number: 6659356
Abstract: A hybrid IC card has an IC card and a housing. The IC card has a card member and an integrated circuit device fixed in a recess of the card member, and the integrated circuit device includes on one surface an antenna terminal and an external connection terminal while the opposite surface includes an integrated circuit element functioning as a contact type card and a noncontact type card, in which the antenna terminal and the external connection terminal are connected with the integrated circuit element. The housing includes an antenna and an antenna contact is connected to the antenna, to which the IC card is attached removably, wherein in a state that the IC card is attached to the housing, the antenna terminal of the IC card is in contact with the antenna contact of the housing so that they are connected electrically, and the IC card functions as a noncontact type IC card.

  • Patent number: 6653565
Abstract: An IC card with a plate frame includes a plate frame having an aperture and a small-size IC card fitted in the aperture. The shapes and dimensions of the aperture and the small-size IC card are approximately the same. The small-size IC card is formed by shearing the plate frame by the use of a pressing mold. It is possible to take out an IC card without burrs on the outer circumference and it is easy to separate the small-size IC card from the plate frame.

  • Patent number: 6519158
Abstract: A protection mechanism for use with an IC card read/write apparatus comprises a housing that defines a slot having an inlet and an outlet. The housing is constructed and arranged to allow passage of an IC card through the slot from the inlet to the outlet and into an IC card read/write apparatus. A first arm is movable between a first position at which the first arm is positioned in the slot and a second position at which the first arm is positioned out of the slot. The first arm is constructed and arranged to move from the first position to the second position in response to being contacted by the IC card as the IC card passes through the slot from the inlet to the outlet. A shutter is movable between a third position at which the shutter blocks the outlet and a fourth position at which the shutter does not block the outlet.

  • Patent number: 6421245
Abstract: An IC card read/write apparatus of the present invention includes a frame having first and second parallel guides spaced apart from each other. The first and second guides define an extended and thinned card chamber for receiving an IC card, a card inlet connected at one end of the card chamber through which an IC card is inserted in the card chamber, and an end path connected to the opposite end of the card chamber and angled to the card chamber so that an insert end of the inserted IC card is forced in the path and then held in the end path.
