Abstract: A notebook personal computer machine includes a first casing containing a computer (CPU), a second casing capable of swinging about the associated hinge portions relative to the first casing, and further a third casing containing speakers and disposed on opposite lateral side edges of the second casing, swinging about the associated hinge portions relative to the second casing. It is adapted to cover the corresponding lateral side edges of the first casing when the second casing is completely folded (closed) onto the first casing. This permits a larger speaker to be mounted externally without modifying the physical size of the hardware machine, with the box containing the speaker being adjustable to any angle such that the exposed portions of the floppy disk drive and so on installed inside the machine body can be protected adequately against any possible scratches, dusts and the like.

Abstract: To provide an information processing apparatus capable of reflecting individuality of a user when viewed from the front thereof in an open state of a display unit, such as in a case of use, the information processing apparatus, which includes a base unit having a keyboard and a palm rest on an upper surface and a display unit coupled to the base unit to be opened and closed with respect to the base unit, includes a cover unit which covers at least a portion of the base unit to form the palm rest and being attachably and detachably mounted on the base unit.

Abstract: An object is to improve the sound quality and save the power consumption during listening to sound, in a portable information processing apparatus. The body for containing CPU is attached to a movable cover. The body and movable cover are provided, respectively, with one or more pairs of speakers for right and left channel. The sound circuit (sound control unit and amplifier unit) generates independent sound signals for each of the speakers. Only the speakers, the sound circuit and DVD drive 62 are switched on, when listening to the sound from DVD drive.
