  • Patent number: 7623716
Abstract: A translation device analyses image data that includes characters, to separate and extract a character region, and another region whose structural elements differ from those of the character region; recognizes characters in the region determined to be the character region; extracts a character string related to the other region, from a result of the character recognition, to associate the character string with the character region from which the character string is extracted and the other region; translates the resulting recognized characters; and, based on the association between the character string and the other character region, pastes the resulting translation that includes the character string onto the same page as the other region that is associated with the character string.

  • Patent number: 7502944
Abstract: A job device for increasing security of job data includes a CPU that encrypts job data while saving job data required in execution of a job. The CPU saves part of the data in RAM, and saves the remaining stored file in an HDD. When the job ends, part of the job data for the job in the RAM is deleted. Part of the job data is therefore completely eliminated as a result of this deletion, and it is not possible to know the complete job data even if the HDD is removed and checked.

  • Patent number: 7484104
Abstract: A service providing system passes an instruction form representing an instruction for each server from one server to another to make the server execute its target instruction in the instruction form while protecting confidentiality of the instruction for each server in the instruction form. By combining page dividing (of outputting a file of a predetermined page extracted from a document file having a plurality of pages) provided by a server with e-mail transmission provided by another server, the system implements a cooperative service of extracting a top page from a file of a document entered into an instruction input unit by a user and sending the top page via e-mail to a predetermined destination. The instruction input unit separately encrypts each description about process details for the servers using a public key for the corresponding server, creates instruction forms containing the encrypted descriptions, and sends the instruction forms to the server providing the page dividing service.

  • Patent number: 7325137
Abstract: A system which allows each server in a network to verify the signature of a party issuing a service instruction in a system for providing a cooperative service by allowing servers to send and receive instruction data indicating instructions to each server and to execute the instruction written in the instruction data. An instruction input device receiving an instruction from a service requestor attaches an electronic signature (initiator signature (74)) of the requestor or the instruction input device to an instruction which indicates process content of each server, to create a signed individual instruction (72). The instruction input device further attaches an initiator signature (76) to data in which the signed individual instructions (72) for all servers involved in the service are merged, to create a collective instruction (70). The collective instruction (70) is transmitted to a flow controller controlling the servers.

  • Publication number: 20070245146
Abstract: A device for facilitating verification of an electronic signature in an exchange of instructions between an in-house server and an outside server. Each server which is to execute a partial process of a cooperative service has, in a key storage unit (206), secret keys corresponding to public key certificates issued by an in-house CA and by an outside public CA. A signature key selection unit 216 judges whether a server which is to execute a process next is a device within or outside the company and selects an in-house secret key when the next server is an in-house device and an outside secret key when the next server is an outside device. A signature creation unit (218) calculates a value of an electronic signature for an job flow instruction to the next server using the selected secret key. An instruction division/integration unit (204) transmits to the next server the job flow instruction with the electronic signature value attached.

  • Publication number: 20060215187
Abstract: An image processing apparatus sequentially reduces a document, while changing the reduction factor step-by-step. Next, the image processing apparatus refers to the characters that constitute the document that has been reduced with the respective reduction factors, and specifies a reduction factor at which blank regions surrounded by line portions that express each character do not disappear. When an appropriate reduction factor is specified, the image processing apparatus specifies a resolution of the characters for that reduction factor, and converts the resolution of the document data to that specified resolution. Then, the image processing apparatus performs various processing for the document data whose resolution has been converted. Thus the resolution of document data is converted such that the document is reduced with a reduction factor suitable for computer processing.
