  • Patent number: 8419060
Abstract: In a side airbag system (10), a tether portion (22), which serves as a partition between an upper bag portion (16) and a lower bag portion (18), is formed of upper regions (34U) of a piece of lower base fabric (34), and is formed by sewing the upper regions (34U) of the lower base fabric (34), folded toward a vehicle front side along a fold axis, together. In addition, a tube (24) that distributes inflation gas between the upper bag portion (16) and the lower bag portion (18) extends through the tether portion (22) to the lower bag portion (18) and to the upper bag portion (16). The tube (24) is formed into a cylindrical shape in such a manner that a piece of tube base fabric (36) is sewed to the upper regions (34U) of the lower base fabric (34) and folded toward a vehicle front side along the fold axis and then front ends (36F) of the folded tube base fabric are sewed together in a tube longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 5209519
Abstract: A retainer case accommodating an air bag and consisting of two separate parts, one being an open end side part terminating in an open end of the retainer case and the other being an inflator-secured end side part secured to the vehicle body, the open end side part and inflator-secured end side part being fitted together to form the retainer case. The open end side part of the retainer case is made less rigid than the inflator-secured end side part. When an impact is applied to the retainer case from the passenger compartment side, the open end side part undergoes a deformation and thus absorbs the impact. A stem of the air bag is secured to the retainer case with its edge clamped between the fitted portions of the open end side part and inflator-secured end side part of the retainer case.

  • Patent number: 5071162
Abstract: A knee bolster includes a lid for covering the surface of a glove box mounted in an opening made in that surface of an instrument panel opposed to passenger knees and which has a plate-like shock absorbing member mounted thereon, a reinforcing plate disposed along the peripheral edge of the opening and opposed to an outer edge of the back of the shock absorbing member, and a load bearing member fixed at one end thereof to a vehicle body and opposed at the other end to the back of the reinforcing plate. Accordingly, the knee bolster has a large shock absorptivity and is simple in structure and easy to assemble.

  • Patent number: 4047069
Abstract: A high pressure mercury vapor lamp having an outer bulb with a plural-phosphor coating on the inside surface thereof. A first phosphor provides for emission peaks within the range of wavelengths between 440 and 540 nm and contains strontium chloroapatite, barium magnesium aluminate, strontium chlorosilicate, barium magnesium aluminate, or barium strontium silicate, each activated with di-valent europium. A second phosphor includes yttruim vanaphosphate activated with tri-valent europium which has emission peaks between 600 and 720 nm.
