Patent number: 4748513Abstract: An image processing system has a reader with an image sensor, a retention memory unit connected to the reader, and a printer connected to the retention memory unit. The reader, the retention memory unit and the printer have a hierarchical control structure in order named. The retention memory unit has dynamic RAMs each of which stores image data of at least one page. The image data entered at the reader is selectively stored in the RAMs. When an operator wishes to form the image represented by the image data on a plurality of copying sheets, the corresponding original is scanned only once before copying on the first copy sheet. For the second and subsequent sheets, the image signal is selectively read out from the RAMs. The signal readout is inhibited by selectors and gates in the retention memory unit in response to logical states of corresponding flags at the end of copying.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1986Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masanori Yamada

Patent number: 4710012Abstract: In a flash photography system which controls the amount of flash based on an aperture value of a lens set by detecting reflected light from an object which is preliminarily illuminated prior to main illumination, the angle of illumination coverage of a main light issuing portion is variable, and the amount of light from the preliminary illumination is determined corresponding to that varied angle. The aperture value of the lens is properly set by the preliminary illumination corresponding to that varied angle.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1986Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masanori Yamada

Patent number: 4617459Abstract: When the disclosed automatic focusing device detects that a computed distance measurement is inaccurate, it shifts the lens a predetermined length to a new position for another measurement. A system senses when the inaccuracy arises from an overly dim scene, for which a distance cannot be properly measured in any case, and inhibits the successive shifts to avoid waste of energy.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1983Date of Patent: October 14, 1986Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akira Akashi, Masanori Yamada

Patent number: 4615599Abstract: A flash device for a photographic camera is arranged either to inhibit a flashing action or to shift the control mode of the camera from flash photography to daylight photography in cases where an object to be photographed is located outside of the adequately operatable range of distance. A pre-flashing action is performed to detect a distance to the object when a main capacitor is charged to a given level before the capacitor is amply charged for flash photography. Then flash photographing is performed at an aperture value determined on the basis of the detected distance when the distance is within the adequately operatable distance range. In the case where the detected distance is outside of the adequately operatable distance range, the main capacitor is further charged for an increased flashing power.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1985Date of Patent: October 7, 1986Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroyuki Kataoka, Masanori Yamada, Nobuyuki Suzuki

Patent number: 4569580Abstract: A flash device for a photographic camera either inhibits a flashing action or shifts the control mode of the camera from flash photography to daylight photography in cases where the object to be photographed is located outside of an adequately operable distance range. A pre-flashing action detects a distance to the object when a main capacitor is charged to a given level before the capacitor is fully charged for flash photography. Then flash photography is performed at an aperture value determined on the basis of the detected distance when the distance is within the adequately operable distance range. When the detected distance is outside of the adequately operable distance range, the main capacitor is further charged for an increased flashing power. Then the distance to the object is again detected by a second preflashing action before flash photography is carried out at an aperture value determined on the basis of the distance detected by the second pre-flashing action.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1985Date of Patent: February 11, 1986Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroyuki Kataoka, Masanori Yamada, Nobuyuki Suzuki

Patent number: 4494847Abstract: In the disclosed distance measuring system, a light measuring circuit measures light reflected from an object whose distance is to be measured. An output arrangement responds to the light measuring circuit by producing an output in the form of a signal representing a distance to an object. A device widens the scanning range of the distance measuring system when the object is more difficult to observe than usual.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1982Date of Patent: January 22, 1985Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masanori Yamada

Patent number: 4484807Abstract: A flash photographing device of the type which detects the distance up to an object by a preliminary flash emission so as to control the diaphragm according to the detailed object distance, while the light adjusting level of the light adjusting speed light device is set according to the detected object distance. In the case of a flash photographing device of this type, a proper exposure can be guaranteed when a detected object distance is within the range of the operational engagement of a light adjusting circuit, while the exposure is improper when the distance is beyond the range. The arrangement of the present invention provides a flash photographing device of the above-described type which controls the diaphragm at the smallest aperture value of the lens independently of the value of a detected object distance when the detected object distance is beyond the range of operative engagement.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1982Date of Patent: November 27, 1984Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroyuki Kataoka, Masanori Yamada, Nobuyuki Suzuki

Patent number: 4477170Abstract: A flash photography system including a computer type electronic flash device and a camera controlling the exposure value by using the light coming from an object to be photographed and reflected from the shutter curtain and/or film surface is disclosed. The leading and trailing curtains in the slit shutter of the system run down simultaneously when test firing occurs, and the flash device controls the amount of flash light in accordance with an equivalent reflected light from the shutter curtain surfaces to that from the film surface. When the aforesaid amount of light reflected has reached a prescribed level, an annunciator is energized to inform the operator that a correct exposure can be obtained.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1982Date of Patent: October 16, 1984Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masanori Yamada, Makoto Katsuma
