  • Publication number: 20020118488
Abstract: In manufacturing a magnetic tape, a long web of non-magnetic base material is coated with a magnetic layer and, thereafter, subjected to a smoothing process, wherein the surface of the magnetic layer is abraded, ground, and then wiped out. For grinding, sapphire blades are kept in contact with the surface of the magnetic layer with their edges oriented in a transverse direction to the magnetic tape, and are moved back and forth in the transverse direction to the magnetic tape, while the magnetic tape is being conveyed in a lengthwise direction of the magnetic tape. Of the sapphire blades, adjacent two are moved in opposite directions to each other.

  • Patent number: 5905927
Abstract: In order to provide a driving mechanism for a photosensitive drum which is capable of reducing deformation of the shaft of the photosensitive drum caused by loads when transmitting a driving force, a drive transmission course 51 is diverged to at least two courses in a drive transmission system 42 for transmitting the drive force from a drive motor 41 to the photosensitive drum 25. Specifically, the last stage of the drive transmission course 51 is engaged with a passive member 47 provided to the drum shaft 25a at two or more points to connect and link the drive force, thereby diverging the directions of loads to several directions, by which irregular movements of the photosensitive drum or vibration caused by the deformation of the shaft is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5777506
Abstract: An inductance in a path (R1) from a gate electrode (3G) of a GTO (3) through a gate driver (4) and a node (13) to a cathode electrode (3K) is determined so that a turn-off gain may be not more than 1. At a turn-off, a main current (I.sub.A) is entirely commutated from the gate electrode (3G) towards the node (13) through the gate driver (4) in a direction reverse to a turn-off control current (I.sub.G) A peak voltage suppressing circuit (5) clamps an anode-cathode voltage (V.sub.A-K) which rises on, to a prescribed voltage value for a prescribed time. This prevents losses caused by a snubber circuit. Commutation of a main current to the gate prevents locally concentrating in the cathode side of the semiconductor switching element, to thereby increase the turn off capability of the semiconductor switching element. Further, this prevents or reduces dissipation of large amount produced by a discharge of the electric charges from a snubber capacitor.

  • Patent number: 5732309
Abstract: This invention concerns an image forming apparatus provided with a fixing device for fixing an image formed on a sheet. This apparatus comprises shutters for shielding opening parts formed in the fixing device for the passage of the sheet, a driver for switching the shutters between the opened state and the closed state, a sensor for detecting the presence or absence of the opened state of the shutters, and a CPU for setting the driver moving and controlling the opening or closing motion of the shutters. The CPU compares the signal to open or close the shutters and the signal from the sensor and prohibits the fixing device from producing a fixing motion when the sensor detects the closed state of the shutters in spite of the issuance of a signal to open the shutters.

  • Patent number: 5559045
Abstract: Disclosed are an improved vertical-type double diffused MOSFET which has a self-aligned gate structure and field oxide film and a method of fabricating the same. A silicon nitride film is selectively formed and a well region is formed, after which a self-aligned field oxide film is formed on the well region. After removing the silicon nitride film, a self-aligned gate oxide film is formed on an element formation area opposite to the well region. The self-aligned field oxide film overlays the well region. A gate structure has a stable low resistance caused by a desirable definition thereof. While, the self-aligned gate oxide film overlays the element formation area, but which has no overlaying area on the well region and the edge portion of the gate oxide film exists in the vicinity of the edge portion of the well region. The gate oxide film has a few crystal defects thereby reducing the gate short.

  • Patent number: 5408118
Abstract: A vertical double diffused MOSFET includes a gate electrode formed with a plurality of first open windows and at least one second open window connecting two of the first open windows. The first open windows are of a desired polygonal shape and have centers at lattice points of a square lattice provided in a first direction and a second direction orthogonal to the first direction with predetermined interval. The second open window takes in the form of slit having a predetermined width and arranged on a line connecting the center of one first open window to the center of at least one of four other first open windows obliquely adjacent to the one first open window. With the provision of the second open window, the channel width per unit area becomes wider than for a gate electrode having only the first open windows, resulting in a reduced on-resistance.
