The ring occurs at the point where the throat and limbs of the flower abruptly flare from the tube in the fully mature flower. The tube is bright yellow (R.H.S. 9A). Typically, young flowers will close under low light and low temperature conditions such as late in the day and at night, giving them their generally funnelform appearance.
