  • Patent number: 6483687
Abstract: A voltage from an AC power source is converted into a DC voltage in an input-side rectifier-smoother circuit. The DC voltage is then converted into a high-frequency voltage in an inverter, and the resulting high-frequency voltage is voltage-transformed in a transformer. The voltage-transformed high-frequency voltage is converted into a DC voltage in an output-side rectifier-smoother circuit, which is applied via output terminals to a load. The input-side and output-side rectifier-smoother circuits, the inverter and the transformer are enclosed in a casing having a plastic panel. The output terminal of the apparatus is mounted on the plastic panel.

  • Patent number: 6057524
Abstract: A plasma arc utilizing apparatus includes a power supply unit disposed in a housing. The power supply unit converts an AC voltage to a DC voltage, which is applied to load for generating an arc therein. A compressor is disposed in the same housing for supplying the load with compressed gas that is to be ionized by the arc. The compressor has a leg by which the compressor is secured to the housing. The leg is embedded in an elastic material secured in the housing.

  • Patent number: 6051806
Abstract: A power supply apparatus for welders includes an input-side AC-to-DC converter for converting an input commercial AC voltage into a DC voltage, which is, in turn, converted to a high-frequency voltage in an inverter. The high-frequency voltage is transformed to a high-frequency voltage having a desired magnitude in a transformer. The transformed high-frequency voltage is then converted back to a DC voltage in an output-side high-frequency-to-DC converter. The DC voltage is developed between output terminals of the power supply apparatus. A current detector detects the current flowing through the output terminals and develops a detected-current representative signal. A voltage detector detects the voltage between the output terminals and develops a detected-voltage representative signal. A CPU has three control modes and controls, in a first mode, the inverter in such a manner that the current representative signal becomes equal to a reference-current representative signal.

  • Patent number: 5943220
Abstract: A power supply apparatus includes a front panel, a rear panel and two left and right side panels which together form a housing. Opposed edges of a partition are connected to the front and rear panels to thereby divide the interior space of the housing into upper and lower chambers. The left and right side panels each have edges which are placed to abut against the corresponding edges of the other side panel.Components of a power supply circuit are appropriately distributed in the upper and lower chambers. Some of the components in the upper chambers are located beneath the upper abutting edges of said left and right side panels, and a cover is disposed to cover at least those components which are located beneath the upper abutting edges.

  • Patent number: 5831240
Abstract: A power supply apparatus includes first and second spaced-apart, substantially parallel panels, and a chassis disposed in substantially perpendicular to and between the first and second panels. Opposite edges of the chassis are coupled to the respective ones of the first and second panels to thereby partition the space between the first and second panels into upper and lower regions. A power supply circuit includes heat-generating electric components disposed in the lower region, and non-heat-generating components disposed in the upper region. The chassis has an opening therein and a heat sink is mounted to close the opening in the chassis. A semiconductor module of the power supply circuit is mounted on the surface facing to the upper region of the heat sink.

  • Patent number: 5726416
Abstract: An air plasma arc cutter includes spaced apart front and rear panels. A partition wall has its opposed two edges coupled to the front and rear panels to divide the space therebetween into upper and lower regions. An AC-to-DC voltage converter is disposed in the upper region and converts an AC voltage to a DC voltage to be applied between a torch electrode of a torch of the cutter and a workpiece. An air compressor supplies compressed air around the torch electrode and is disposed in the lower region. The air compressor has a threaded bolt which extends through the partition wall from the lower into upper regions. A nut is screwed onto the bolt in the upper region to thereby secure the air compressor to the partition wall. Shock absorbing members are disposed between the nut and the partition wall and between the air compressor and the partition wall.
