  • Patent number: 5760779
Abstract: Sub-areas divided from a three-dimensional areas to be analyzed are generated by hexahedron meshes as much as possible, and for the sub-areas not formed by the hexahedron elements, tetrahedron meshes are generated by a tetrahedron mesh generation unit. For the mesh generation of the sub-area adjacent to the hexahedron mesh area and the tetrahedron mesh area, the data of other sub-area for which the mesh has been generated which is adjacent to the sub-area for which the mesh is to be generated is searched from a sub-area data area and a mesh shape formed by a plurality of triangles on the surface of the area for which the mesh is to be generated from the mesh shape on the joining plane to the adjacent sub-area to generate a quadrilateral mesh in the area for which the mesh is to be generated.

  • Patent number: 5339649
Abstract: First and second refrigerating circuits respectively cause first and second adsorbing bodies to alternately adsorb and release first and second coolants. In the first refrigerating circuit, when the first adsorbing body is heated, it releases the first coolant. The released first coolant is cooled, and discharged through an expansion valve so that a part of the first coolant is liquefied. The resultant latent heat of vaporization can be utilized to cool an object to be cooled. Thereafter, the first coolant is adsorbed when the first adsorbing body is cooled. In the second refrigerating circuit, when the second adsorbing body is heated, it releases the second coolant. The released second coolant is cooled by a liquefied-gas-type cooler, and discharged through an expansion valve so that a part of the second coolant is liquefied. The resultant latent heat of vaporization is utilized to cool the first adsorbing body of the first refrigerating circuit.

  • Patent number: 5317976
Abstract: A vehicle has a rotary magnetic field member which is rotatably supported at a position near the surface of a roadway along which the vehicle runs and rotatingly driven by a driving device. The rotary magnetic field member has magnetic poles of different polarities alternately arranged around its circumference. The vehicle also has an electrical power collector for receiving electrical power from an electrical power supply associated with the roadway. The received electrical power is supplied under the control of a controller to the driving device thereby rotatably driving the rotary magnetic field member. The rotary magnetic field member when rotated relative to the roadway made of an electrically conductive non-magnetic material, forms a varying magnetic field in cooperation with the roadway, thereby generating propulsion force for propelling the vehicle and force for suspending the vehicle, so that the vehicle is propelled in a floating state.

  • Patent number: 5176213
Abstract: In a hybrid vehicle in which the front or rear set of wheels is driven by an engine (7) and the other set of wheels is driven by a motor (8), a traveling mode deciding unit (4) is provided with a table for deciding engine throttle opening and motor output, with driving force being distributed in accordance with the engine throttle opening and motor output decided by referring to the table. The table decides the traveling mode based on signals from a detector (2) which detects the remaining life of a battery, a vehicle velocity sensor (1) and an accelerator opening sensor (3). By deciding the traveling mode using such a table, it is possible to distribute driving efficiently in dependence upon the remaining life of the battery.

  • Patent number: 4954959
Abstract: A first external storage device which may be a CD stores data representing standard map of a particular area and that required for guidance, and a second external storage device which may be an IC card stores individual data which cannot be complemented by said data representing the standard map and said guidance data. Since the data is stored in both CD and IC card, the number of data can be reduced. This makes the operation simpler and enables a data that meets the demand of a user to be selectively supplied to the user. In consequence, guided navigation is made possible from any starting point to a destination, and data updating can be made relatively easy.

  • Patent number: 4945482
Abstract: A transmission control system for controlling a transmission. The system has a main transmission with a speed changing mechanism and an output shaft, a substransmission connected to the output shaft, and a control system for receiving outputs from a number of sensors which sense the running state of the vehicle. The control system itself has two outputs, there being two separate hydraulic controls connected to the two system outputs, respectively. The two hydraulic controls control the speed changing mechanisms of the main and subtransmissions, respectively. Also provided is a hydraulic pressure source which supplies a working fluid to the two hydraulic controls. The control system determines whether the main and subtransmissions are in a transient period of the speed changing operation and, as long as one of the two transmissions is in the transient period, inhibits the speed changing operation of the other transmission.
