    Abstract: Cystamine is produced by a method which comprises reacting a 2,2-dialkyl thiazolidine represented by the general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently are alkyl groups of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, with a peroxide in the presence of water. An alkylene oxide adduct of cystamine is produced by a method which comprises reacting the reaction mixture obtained as described above further with an alkylene oxide. These cystamine and alkylene oxide adduct of cystamine are useful as an additive for an aqueous lubricant.

    Abstract: 4-Methyl-5-[(2-aminoethyl)-thiomethyl]-imidazole can be effectively produced by causing 4-methylimidazole or a salt thereof to react with at least one member selected from the group consisting of (a) a formaldehyde adduct of cysteamine, (b) 2-aminoethanethiol sulfuric acid and formaldehyde or a formaldehyde oligomer, and (c) thiazolidine or a salt thereof, in the presence of a mineral acid, removing a portion of reaction liquid out of the reaction system while maintaining molar concentration of 4-methyl-5-[(2-aminoethyl)-thiomethyl]-imidazole in the reaction system not exceeding 70 mol % based on total mol numbers of 4-methylimidazole and 4-methyl-5-[(2-aminoethyl)-thiomethyl]-imidazole, then separating a liquid containing 4-methyl-5-[(2-aminoethyl)-thiomethyl]-imidazole from the removed portion of reaction liquid, and recycling the remainder into the reaction system.

    Abstract: A seal device for a rotary heat-exchanger of a gas turbine is held in bearing contact with each end face of a regenerative rotor of the heat-exchanger to partition a low-pressure exhaust gas passage and a high-pressure air passage from one another and to seal therebetween. The regenerative rotor is rotated across the passages to effect the heat-exchanger between the low-pressure exhaust gas and the high-pressure air. The seal device comprises a bellows having one end thereof secured to a seal member rotatably supporting the regenerative rotor and the other end secured to a flange fast on the inner wall of the rotor housing, and a jacket substantially backing up the bellows to control the shape thereof.
