  • Patent number: 5771652
Abstract: A window molding for automobiles, which is installed around the periphery of a windshield, including a leg and a head. The head is formed to permit the creation of two different water guide portions extending along the molding, one that will function along the roof line and another along the side edge of the windshield. The side water guide portion prevents water from going from the windshield to the side windows. The roof line water guide portion opens toward the window frame and prevents water from flowing from the roof onto the windshield.

  • Patent number: 5731631
Abstract: A semiconductor device having improved heat dissipation property and electrical characteristics and applicable to an integrated circuit having a multiplicity of electrodes, and a method of fabricating the semiconductor device are disclosed. A surface of a semiconductor chip (1) on which a bump (2) is formed is in face to face relation to a surface of a circuit substrate (3) on which a land (5) is formed. A polyimide tape (6) and a TAB lead (7) constitute a TAB tape. The bump (2) and the land (5) are electrically connected to each other through the flat TAB tape. The land (5) is electrically connected to an external connection electrode (4) through an interconnecting line within the circuit substrate (3). The TAB lead (7) extending from the bump (2) to the land (5) is reduced in length, and the signal through the TAB lead (7) accordingly has improved electrical characteristics.

  • Patent number: 5677971
Abstract: An optical wavelength filter has a polarizer, an analyzer, and an optical waveguide, formed in a substrate displaying an acousto-optic effect, that guides light from the polarizer to the analyzer. A transducer formed on the substrate excites a surface acoustic wave, thus creating an acoustic beam. The amplitude of the surface acoustic wave is small at the two sides of the acoustic beam and larger in the middle. The optical waveguide enters the acoustic beam at a point on one of the two sides of the beam, then moves into the center of the beam, and exits the beam at another point on one of the two sides.

  • Patent number: 5388001
Abstract: A polarization-independent optical wavelength filter uses a polarization splitter to divide an optical input signal into first and second signals with mutually perpendicular planes of polarization. The first signal propagates via a first optical path to a first end of an optical device, such as a TE-TM mode converter or a polarization-dependent filter, that acts selectively on the desired wavelength, then returns via a second optical path from a second end of the optical device to the polarization splitter. The second signal propagates via the second optical path to the second end of the same optical device, and returns from the first end via the first optical path to the polarization splitter. The polarization splitter recombines the returning signals into an optical output signal consisting only of the desired wavelength.
