  • Patent number: 5584197
Abstract: A front fabric 20 is transferred to the opposing needle bed to reverse the order of stitches sidewise. Next, the back fabric 21 is transferred to the opposing needle bed without altering the order of stitches. Then the front fabric 20 is transferred with the order of stitches reversed again. As a result, the curls of the front fabric 20 and the back fabric 21 appear on the outer side, and the binding-off is made under this condition. A first collar and a second collar are formed on the circumference of a neck hole of the front body, and then a back collar of which wale directions are continuous to those of the collars is formed on the back body.

  • Patent number: 5537843
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rib knitting method for use with a flat knitting machine having at least one pair of front and back needle beds and a yarn feeder, and more particularly to improvements in the aesthetic appearance and durability of the side border of a rib stitch knitted parts or fabric. Using the needles [(A-H)], (a-h)] on a front-back pair of needle beds [(1), (2),]. A rib stitch knitting is carried out with no yarn feeding to the outermost needle [(I)], then the yarn is fed to needle [(I)] with the yarn feeder [(3)] being reversed, and the yarn feeder [(3)] is again reversed. The yarn feeder [(3)] is reversed once more for yarn to be fed to the needles [(A-I), (a-h)] in order.

  • Patent number: 5520020
Abstract: A method of forming piping at an end of a knitted fabric for a knitted garment by using a flat knitting machine. At a point at which piping is to begin loops which compose the knitted fabric are held on the front or rear needles and the other needles are held empty and elastic yarn is hooked by specified front and rear needles. The piping fabric part is knitted only by the knitting needles on one side or by both the knitting needles on one side and the empty needles on the other side. The loops at the end of this piping fabric part and the previously hooked elastic yarn are joined together to form the piping and then the loops of the joined part are released from the knitting needles using the elastic yarn.

  • Patent number: 5505062
Abstract: A method for increasing stitches at intermediate positions in a row of stitches of a rib knit fabric comprising the steps of: leaving a set of two target knitting needles on the front and rear beds, respectively, unoccupied, where increased stitches are to be formed, by shifting a predetermined number of loops from the knitting needles including the target needles in either leftward or rightward direction; forming stitches on knitting needles from one end of a knitting area to before the two target knitting needles; hooking a thread of yarn on first one of the unoccupied target knitting needles located next to the knitting needle to which the thread has been supplied at the end of the preceding course; hooking the thread on the other unoccupied target knitting needles; and, moving a carriage in a reverse direction and applying the thread again to the first target knitting needle to form an increased stitch.

  • Patent number: 5456096
Abstract: A method for processing end portion of fabric knitted by a flat knitting machine wherein integration of fabrics and the anti-raveling of end portion at the completion of knitting are carried out and the joined portion is not projected out of the surface of fabric. Two feeders which travel different orbits on a needle bed are used, a yarn on the front yarn feeder is fed to a needle of the back bed while a yarn on back yarn feeder is fed to a needle of front bed so that the yarns on both the yarn feeders are intertwined with each other to form a loop of fabric, and the formed loop is transferred to the needle adjacent thereto to overlap the loop to integrally connect the fabric.

  • Patent number: 5361607
Abstract: A method of forming a knitted body part of a knitted wear which includes knitting an integral pocket while knitting the body portion. A flat knitting machine with two pair of needle beds in a vertical direction is used. As soon as the body portion is knitted up to a predetermined position, the knitting machine is operated to branch out specific loops engaged with those knitting needles in a region corresponding to the predetermined width of a pocket.

  • Patent number: 5289701
Abstract: A method for determining a sleeve and body pattern so that each sleeve is the same vertically as related to the body. The body is arranged so that the vertical height of an armhole between a shoulder point and an underarm point is equal in height of a set-in region of the sleeve pattern. The sleeves are joined to the body of the garment by a knitting process.

  • Patent number: 5271249
Abstract: A flat knitting machine provided with at least a pair of needle beds, either or both of the needle beds arranged for movement lengthwisely thereof. Two tubular knit fabrics being coupled each other at both ends, are provided in linear symmetrical relationship about a boundary line of adjointed ends. Two loops at the joint portion of each tubular fabrics are jointed, overlapping the new loop on the first overlapped loop. The method incorporates by repeating a predetermined number of times of a process of binding off the new loops, the cast-on of each tubular knit fabric is controlled so that the seams. Of the two tubular knit fabrics can be knitted in the same course.

  • Patent number: 5257514
Abstract: The present invention presents a connective knitting method of tape-shaped knit ends capable of joining the end portions nearly simultaneously when knitting a tape or rope and a tape-shaped knit fabric having the end portions linked in a knit state, which comprises two pieces of tape-shaped knit fabric knitted by an arbitrary number of needles in different ranges across the boundary in the longitudinal direction of the needle beds disposed at least in a pair of front and rear sides, wherein symmetrical loops of the final course of both knit fabrics across the boundary are overlaid and knitted by binding off.

  • Patent number: 5203185
Abstract: A beautiful finished fabric of high quality wherein stitch loops of a connection are not bent opposedly to each other, and a method for producing such fabric. By using a flat knitting machine having needle beds arranged in a pair in front and in the rear, parts constituting an article of clothing are knitted separately and connected to a part on the other side. Stitch loops located on the outermost boundary side of one-side part are overlapped with stitch loops of one of second to fourth wales from the boundary side of the other-side part.
