  • Publication number: 20120222513
Abstract: A variable valve timing device, with a simplified structure and reduced cost, reliably and continuously changes a rotational phase of a camshaft relative to a crankshaft, and can change not only valve opening and closing timing but also valve opening and closing times. A first motion gear to which a rotary power is transmitted from a crankshaft and a second motion gear which transmits rotary power to a camshaft are independently rotatably arranged on a first shaft. A first variable gear meshed with the first motion gear and a second variable gear meshed with the second motion gear are integrally rotatably arranged on a second shaft spaced apart from and in parallel with the first shaft. An adjuster holds the second shaft and rotates the second shaft around the first shaft. The first and second variable gears have different numbers of teeth.

  • Patent number: 5331211
Abstract: A circuit for controlling the actuation of a vehicle air bag system includes a two terminal electrically actuated ignition element connectable to a drive voltage line through a first transistor and to a circuit ground through another transistor. The voltage source includes the vehicle battery and a capacitor that is charged by the vehicle battery and which supplies operating power in the event the vehicle battery is removed from the circuit, for example, as a consequence of a collision. The transistors are normally biased to a non-conducting state sufficient to isolate the ignition element from the drive voltage source and circuit ground. Vehicle acceleration is sensed by an acceleration sensor which, in the event of a collision, biases both transistors into conduction to effectively connect the two terminals of the ignition element to the drive voltage line and to ground to actuate the vehicle air bag.

  • Patent number: 4582124
Abstract: An automotive air conditioning system has refrigeration devices, heating devices and a single chip microcomputer. The refrigeration devices include a variable displacement refrigeration compressor drivingly connectable by an electromagnetic clutch to an automotive engine and a refrigerant evaporator disposed in an air duct, through which air is caused to flow by a blower. The heating devices include a heater core disposed downstream of the refrigerant evaporator, through which heated air is caused to flow, and an air mixing damper which regulates the quantity of air to be introduced into the heater core. A condition relating to the air conditioning operation such as the temperature of the vehicle is detected by a sensor. The microcomputer receives the signals from the sensor, calculates a required injection temperature, compares the required injection temperature and a preset standard temperature, a lower standard temperature and a higher standard temperature and produces operating signals.

  • Patent number: 4578960
Abstract: A refrigeration system for use in an automotive air conditioning system has a vane type variable displacement refrigerant compressor drivingly connectable by an electromagnetic clutch to an automotive engine, a refrigerant evaporator through which air is caused to flow by a blower, and a pressure check valve which prevents the refrigerant pressure in the evaporator from lowering under the predetermined pressure, so that frost or icing is not formed on the evaporator fins. The compressor is provided with one or two unloading ports for releasing the refrigerant being compressed and with a valve member or members associated with the unloading port. The refrigerator temperature and the pressure of the refrigerant in the conduit between a throttling valve and the compressor are detected. A signal is emitted to an electric circuit for actuating the valve member or members so that the unloading port is selectively opened to vary the compressor displacement to provide a multi-stage compressor displacement control.
