  • Patent number: 6065583
Abstract: A speed-variable conveyor includes a belt-formed fibrous body deformable in a moving direction and a width direction, a plurality of rollers mounted on both ends in the width direction of the fibrous body, and a pair of guide rails for movably supporting the rollers and differing in spacing according to the moving speed of the fibrous body. The moving speed of the fibrous body is low where the width of the fibrous body is large, and high where the width is small. A support moving body contacting a lower surface of the fibrous body for driving the fibrous body is provided. This reduces a load applied to the fibrous body.

  • Patent number: 5636605
Abstract: A composite intake manifold includes a first outer member, an inner member fitted within the first outer member, and a second outer member fixed to the first outer member. An intake port of the manifold includes a curved portion. The curved portion is defined by the inner member and at least one of the first outer member and the second outer member. The curved portion of the intake port is divided at a seam parallel to an axis of the curved portion of the intake port so that the respective members can be molded without using a molding core.

  • Patent number: 5571254
Abstract: A speed variable moving sidewalk for conveying passengers includes an endless circulating path having inverting sections, a high-speed section and speed variable sections, and a large number of treadboards moving along the circulating path. Each treadboard can move independently as being guided by guide rails and has hooks on its underside which engage shafts of a driving chain for inverting section. The treadboard further has hooks on its underside which engage shafts of a rack chain in order to be driven in the high-speed section and a roller for transversely sliding relative to the neighboring treadboard. A handrail mechanism for the speed variable moving sidewalk includes: with the total length of the moving sidewalk being divided into plural portions, a multiple-number of independent moving handrail portions for allowing passengers to hold thereon, being arranged for the respective portions of the sidewalk while all of the moving handrail portions are arranged without overlapping with one another.

  • Patent number: 5173095
Abstract: An evaporative fuel control canister for use in an internal combustion engine includes a canister main body having a vapor absorbing chamber and a liquid separate chamber. The vapor absorbing chamber has a first portion filled with a vapor absorbing material, and a second spatial portion. The liquid separate chamber has an expansible and contractible member containing a liquid absorbing material. The vapor absorbing chamber is adjacent to the liquid separate chamber in a ventilation state. The canister includes a vapor passage coupling a fuel tank and the liquid separate chamber, and a purge passage coupling the internal combustion engine and the liquid separate chamber. The purge passage has a first opening positioned in the expansible and contractible member, and a second opening positioned in the second spatial portion.

  • Patent number: 4690104
Abstract: A cylinder head for an automotive vehicle has an inner wall serving to define the roofs of combustion chambers, and an outer wall spaced outward therefrom. A coolant flow plenum is defined between the inner wall and the outer wall, and a coolant flow path is defined through the coolant flow plenum. A hole through a portion of the outer wall of the cylinder head opens to a portion of the coolant flow path which has a relatively large cross sectional area, and serves for extracting an inner casting sand core used to create the coolant flow plenum during casting of the cylinder head. A cup plug is fitted into the casting sand extraction hole so as to block it, and this cup plug projects inwards into the coolant flow plenum so as to constrict the large cross section portion of the coolant flow path and to deflect flow of coolant toward other portions of the cylinder head that require high cooling.

  • Patent number: 4688441
Abstract: A gear assembly comprising two gears and a spring in the form of a C-shaped clip interconnecting the two gears. Two pins are provided on one of the two gears and the spring has two holes, one in each end thereof, whereby the spring can be carried by one gear in a prestressed state by means of the pin-and-hole connection. The other gear has a third pin thereon. The spring has a third hole into which the third pin is inserted. Thus the assembly work can be accomplished simply by resting the second gear on the first gear. An end of the third hole engages with the third pin to create a spring force necessary to provide nonbacklash mating with a third gear.

  • Patent number: 4289099
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises a first raised portion formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head, a second raised portion formed on the top face of the piston at a position opposite to the first raised portion with respect to the axis of the piston, and a third raised portion formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head above the second raised portion. A first flat squish area is formed between the flat peripheral top face of the piston and the flat bottom face of the first raised portion. A second spherical shell shape squish area is formed between the spherical bottom wall of the third raised portion and the spherical rear face of the second raised portion.
