Abstract: A detection device is a detection device mounted on a moving object that moves on a road surface. The detection device includes a detection unit, an image detector, and a controller. The detection unit detects a shock on the moving object. The image detector captures an image of the road surface behind in a direction in which the moving object moves. The controller controls an operation of the image detector. On the basis of a detection result obtained by the detection unit, the controller causes the image detector to capture an image of the road surface on which the vehicle has passed when a shock on the vehicle has been detected.
