  • Patent number: 5838874
Abstract: An audiovisual encoding system using a multipass video encoder and a plurality of one-pass audio encoders. The number of audio encoders used by the system is equal to the number of audio tracks to be encoded divided by the number of passes required for the video encoding rounded up to the nearest integer, if necessary. The system allows the video encoder and audio encoders to be used at the same time so that the encoding of the video is completed at the same time as the encoding of all audio tracks is completed, using the minimum number of audio encoders.

  • Patent number: 4796032
Abstract: In the storing mode, an operator section is operated to direct a parabolic antenna toward a broadcasting satellite and to select a desired channel. After the desired channel is seized, a predetermined label is input from a label input part. The satellite position and the selected channel are stored in a memory with the label attached thereto. When a search operation is performed, the direction of the antenna is gradually adjusted. Whenever the direction of the antenna is adjusted, the receiving frequency is scanned to receive each channel. When a signal is received by the frequency scanning, the type of the satellite is recognized depending on the odd or even group of channels and on whether the antenna is set to horizontally or vertically polarized wave reception. The type of the satellite as recognized, the antenna direction at that time, and the desired receiving channel transmitted from the satellite are stored into memory with a given label attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 4560087
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a label peeling device for use with a label issuing machine, such as a hand labeler or a measuring printer. There is a feed unit for feeding a label web, which web comprises a plurality of labels temporarily adhered in series to a web of backing paper. A peeling unit turns and deflects the backing paper web rearwardly, as it is being fed by the feed unit, and the labels peel one by one from the backing paper at the line of deflection due to the rigidity of the labels. An auxiliary label peeling member is arranged in the vicinity of that portion of the peeling unit at which the backing paper and the labels separate. In some embodiments, the auxiliary peeling member has a label abutment portion so placed, shaped and sized that any label which might fail to peel from the backing paper merely by the reverse turning of the backing paper web is moved to abut the label abutment portion until it is forcibly peeled from the backing paper.

  • Patent number: 4389623
Abstract: An automatic equalizer comprises a transversal filter connected to receive an input signal such as a television signal in which a predetermined periodic reference signal is present and having variable tap gains, and a correlator for forming the correlation between the input and output signals of the transversal filter and correcting the tap gains of the transversal filter to cancel out distortion components such as ghost component contained in the input signal. For the purpose of preventing the slow convergence and fluctuation of tap gains of the transversal filter due to non-periodic noise components contained in the input signal, a circuit is further provided to integrate a predetermined portion of the waveform of the reference signal contained in the input signal. An output signal of the waveform integrator circuit is correlated with the output signal of the transversal filter by the correlator.
