  • Patent number: 6054813
Abstract: A neon discharging lamp lighting apparatus comprises a high frequency inverter of which an asymmetrical ratio of an output voltage waveform thereof is designated from 10 to 60% and a low pressure type neon discharging lamp connected to the high frequency inverter. Since the high frequency inverter circuit applies to the low pressure type neon discharging lamp a voltage having a waveform with an asymmetrical ratio for allowing rays of light free from luminance irregularity to be emitted, fringes can be prevented from taking place in rays of light emitted by the low pressure type neon discharging lamp. Thus, the low pressure type neon discharging lamp can operate as a high quality light source.

  • Patent number: 5782485
Abstract: A system for judging to permit actuating a safety device for protecting an occupant seated on the passenger seat of a vehicle. The system is capable of detecting a rearward facing child seat. The system is able to judge in many situations as to whether it is necessary to permit actuating the safety device. The safety device has an air bag storing portion holding an air bag therein. The storing portion is located in front of the front passenger seat. On rapid deceleration of the vehicle, the safety device is set into actuation to inflate the air bag. The system uses plural distance sensors to detect the distances to an upper portion and a lower portion, respectively, of an object existing in the space between the air bag storing portion and the passenger seat. According to the output signals from the distance sensors, the system judges as to whether it is necessary to permit actuating the safety device.

  • Patent number: 5206469
Abstract: The crash sensor of the present invention comprises a magnet, a sensing mass made of a ferromagnetic material and attractable by the magnet, a sleeve made of a paramagnetic material and restricting the movement of the sensing mass in one direction, a pair of strips that make a closed circuit by contact with the sensing mass having moved in one direction and a body fitted with the magnet and housing the sensing mass, the sleeve and the contacts; the crash sensor further comprising a magnetic shield made of a ferromagnetic material and covering the magnet and the body. The magnetic shield forms a closed-type magnetic field by covering the magnet and the body and forms an appropriate magnetic loop in the vicinity of the sensing mass, so that the crash sensor also acts as a magnetic shield to protect itself from being influenced by outside ferromagnetic bodies and makes effective use of the magnetic force of the magnet.

  • Patent number: 5191644
Abstract: A multiwindow control system in which, if an examination window overlaps a display area of a detecting window and has the same parent as the detecting window, the system divides the display area of the detecting window by an extension of the overlapping side of the examination window and changes the divided display areas into new detecting areas. After the portions of detecting areas which overlap with individual examination windows are successively divided, the remaining new detecting areas become areas of the original detecting window in which image information can be displayed.

  • Patent number: 5076550
Abstract: A fluid filled elastomeric damping device has a diaphragm enclosing a working chamber and a diaphragm restraining mechanism for selectively restraining and freeing movement of the diaphragm and thereby varying a damping or operational characteristic of the device. The mechanism includes a pressing plate for pressing a blocking portion of the diaphragm against a seating surface of an outer casing member under a bias of a blocking force generating member and thereby rigidly closing a compensation passage communicating with the working chamber. The diaphragm is restrained in movement by the pressing plate when the solenoid is de-energized and freed in movement when the solenoid is energized.

  • Patent number: 4790794
Abstract: Flexible shaft coupling for transmission of high torque loads comprising drive side and driven side connecting elements arranged in pairs alternately and equidistantly in a circumferential orientation, endless belts of fiber cord bundles wrapping around and interlinking pairs of adjacent drive side and driven side connecting elements, and an elastomeric material embedding therein the foregoing members. Between the connecting elements and the belts there are mounted bobbin-like collars each having both terminal flanges defining a hollow of U-shaped cross-section between them, and the belts are received and held in the hollows. By the construction, disorder or relaxing in cords is not caused and loads are dispersed uniformly on the cords with the result that high torque transmission efficiency is attained.

  • Patent number: 4771842
Abstract: A vehicle has an engine and a driven differential. This three part type propeller shaft assembly includes a first propeller shaft element, a second propeller shaft element, and a third propeller shaft element. A first joint, which is a Hooke joint, rotationally couples the to a one end of the first propeller shaft element. A second joint rotationally couples the other end of the first propeller shaft element to a one end of the second propeller shaft element. A third joint rotationally couples the other end of the second propeller shaft element to a one end of the third propeller shaft element. And a fourth joint, which is a Hooke joint, rotationally couples the other end of the third propeller shaft element to the driven differential. Two bearing supports, one disposed near each end of the second propeller shaft element, rotatably support it from the vehicle body. One of the second joint and the third joint is a Hooke joint, and the other is a constant velocity type joint.

  • Patent number: 4724708
Abstract: This method is for balancing a propeller shaft which includes a slide type constant velocity joint which has an internal cavity for receiving lubricant. In the specified order: first, the slide type constant velocity joint is slid in to substantially the maximum amount possible therefor, so as to reduce its internal cavity to substantially its minimum volume; second, lubricant is packed into this internal cavity to a fill ratio of substantially 100%, while the constant velocity joint remains thus substantially fully slid in; and, third, while the constant velocity joint still remains thus substantially fully slid in, the propeller shaft is balanced. Thereby, unbalance of the propeller shaft due to the lubricant such as grease received in the internal cavity of the constant velocity joint becoming collected preferentially on one side of the internal cavity during the balancing process is positively prevented.

  • Patent number: 4509404
Abstract: A master/slave fluid-pressure apparatus having a first valve respective to angular movement of a master arm for producing fluid pressure which is applied as a pilot pressure to shift a closed-center three-position directional valve in one direction, which then allows a fluid-pressure actuator to be operated to cause a slave arm to follow the master arm in angular motion. The angular movement of the slave arm actuates a second valve coacting therewith to develop a fluid pressure which is applied as another pilot pressure to the directional valve. When the fluid pressure from the second valve reaches a predetermined point, the directional valve is shifted in the opposite direction to stop operation of the fluid-pressure actuator. The first and second valves may either be pressure reducing valves or relief valves.
