  • Publication number: 20040169827
Abstract: A projection display apparatus employs a plurality of projectors 1, 2, 3 and combines images from the projectors into a large composite image on a nonplanar screen such as a concave spherical screen 10. The composite image is of high quality and high resolution and is normally visible by audience. The projectors 1, 2, 3 receive video signals through a geometric conversion unit and project and display images on the nonplanar screen 10 according to the received video signals. The geometric conversion unit transforms the field angles of images to display, according to relationships among the positions of the projectors 1, 2, 3, the positions of areas of the nonplanar screen 10 to which the projectors project images, and the position of an audience, thereby compensating distortions of images caused by the nonplanar shape of the screen 10.

  • Patent number: 6748151
Abstract: An optical attenuator which provides almost the same degree of attenuation even when the difference in wavelength of two different kinds of input optical signals is small. Another optical attenuator is provided with a dopant concentration in a technically realizable range which increases the difference in optical attenuation of two different kinds of input optical signals. Almost the same degree of attenuation may be obtained even when the difference between wavelengths is small by canceling the wavelength dependency of attenuation of the dopant by raising the refractive index of an axially central portion of the core as compared to that of the peripheral portion of the core and by taking into account the type and area of the dopant and the ratio of the difference &Dgr;2 between the refractive indexes of the cladding and the axial portion of the core and the difference &Dgr;1 between the refractive index of the cladding and the refractive index of the peripheral portion, i.e., &Dgr;1/&Dgr;2.

  • Patent number: 6015592
Abstract: When in use a highly luminous automobile discharge lamp will experience a temperature rise to about 700.degree. C. at the lamp glass surface. As such, the light-screening film formed on the lamp will also be exposed to a temperature of 700.degree. C.; the temperature of the glass surface of a lamp rises and, accordingly, that of the light-screening film formed thereon also rises. Especially with a highly luminous automobile discharge lamp, the temperature of the lamp glass surface rises to about 700.degree. C. during the lighting. Necessarily, the light-screening film on the glass surface is also exposed to a temperature of 700.degree. C. As such, a light-screening film material free of discoloration or peeling even after exposure to a temperature of 700.degree. C. has been desired. There is disclosed a light-screening film paint for lamps containing (1) at least one compound of either manganese oxide or an iron oxide compound doped with a metallic manganese and having the formula (Fe.sub.x Mn.sub.1-x).sub.

  • Patent number: 5824156
Abstract: Roll 13 drives base material 12 run continuously, and nozzle 1 applies paint 11 supplied by head 2 on base material intermittently. Head 2 shuts the flow of paint 11 to nozzle 1, when application of paint 11 is suspended, and guides to a place other than nozzle 1, at the same time sucks paint 11 staying in the inside of nozzle 1 and at the exit of slit 7 to sucking part 25 provided in inside of nozzle 1; when application of paint 11 is resumed, releases the flow of paint 11 to nozzle 1, at the same time returns paint 11 that was sucked in sucking part 25 to the inside of nozzle 1; thereby the starting edge and the ending edge of coated areas intermittently applied on the base material can be made to assume a straight line shape, and occurrence of the thicker coating at the starting edge is also prevented.

  • Patent number: 5816506
Abstract: A nozzle and processing method thereof which provides suppression of vertical stripes due to foreign matter or aggregates in the paint or dust deposits on the base material. In one embodiment of the present invention the nozzle includes an upstream lip, a downstream lip in a curvature shape projecting to the base material side, and a slit formed by the upstream lip and downstream lip. A side edge of the downstream lip is formed in a curvature shape having a radius of a curvature in a range of 4 to 45 .mu.m, and by this edge, even a paint of high viscosity which hardly flows can smoothly flow into the gap between the downstream lip and base material. Aggregates in the paint or dust deposits on the base material therefore are not caught in the edge.
