  • Patent number: 6042636
Abstract: A method and apparatus of cooling incinerator exhaust gas for a cleaning treatment of high temperature exhaust gas discharged from an incinerator of refuse and/or waste in a post-step are provided. A spray cooling chamber includes a chamber having a lower end portion formed into a nearly cylindrical shape of an inverted conical shape, a gas distribution chamber equipped with a revolving blade, arranged at an upstream side of the chamber, a sprayer of a cooling liquid arranged at central upper portion of the chamber, a dust exhaust port arranged at the lower end portion of the chamber, and an exhaust pipe arranged on the chamber. Waste heat recovery from exhaust gas is limited to a temperature range capable of suppressing generation of dioxins, and high temperature exhaust gas is rapidly cooled, particularly at a temperature drop rate such that the vicinity of 300.degree. C. is dropped in a short time within 1 second, so that exhaust concentration of dioxins from an incinerator plant can be decreased to 0.

  • Patent number: 5917876
Abstract: A computed tomography scanner for obtaining a tomographic image of a subject to be examined including a radiation emitting device for emitting radiation in a shape of a fan beam to the subject, a radiation detecting device for detecting the radiation that has passed through the subject to obtain detection data with respect to a tomographic plane of the subject. The radiation emitting device and the radiation detecting device determines a scanning area constituting a data collection region in a radiation plane of the fan beam. The subject has external dimensions exceeding the scanning area.

  • Patent number: 5836325
Abstract: In order to adjust flow conditions of a wash liquid without necessitating replacement of a flow regulator plate, a flow regulator means 8 located downstream of a washing section of a running water type washing machine is constituted by a couple of perforated regulator plates 18 and 19 which are located across the flow passage of the wash liquid in a overlapped state and shiftable relative to the other in the vertical direction for adjustments of the open area defined by the respective water passage apertures.

  • Patent number: 5594768
Abstract: A laminograph including, a radiation source for generating radiation towards a subject, a radiation surface sensor device with a two-dimensional resolution, fitted opposite to the radiation source for detecting the radiation from the radiation source which has passed through the subject, a scanning device for moving the subject to take a plurality of different positions between the radiation source and the radiation surface sensor device and for scanning the subject in each of the different positions by the radiation from the radiation source.

  • Patent number: 5260982
Abstract: A flying-spot pencil beam generating unit is arranged under a conveyor. A backscatter detector is located between an upper belt and a lower belt of the conveyor. Thus, this apparatus is set up to be perpendicular. A pencil beam is irradiated upward and scans an object on the belt of the conveyor by the flying-spot pencil beam generating unit, as the conveyor carries the object to be inspected. The backscatter detector gathers Compton scatter X-rays transmitted through the upper belt, as they reflect back from the object. A CPU produces a backscatter image based on the detection signal output from the backscatter detector. The backscatter image is shown on a display unit to enable detection of low-Z materials, such as plastic explosives and narcotics. In addition to the backscatter imaging, the unit may retain use of a transmitted image to thus reliably detect metal-based weapons such as guns.

  • Patent number: 5027378
Abstract: An industrial CT apparatus capable of obtaining a good image quality by a simple configuration. The apparatus is the second generating type incorporating the rotational motions as well as the traverse motions, in which the detector is positioned nearby a center of rotation of the object to be examined. When the object to be examined is a ring shaped object, the detector is positioned inside the center bore of the object. Also, the X-ray is emitted in a form of fan shaped beam whose symmetrical axis is deviated from an axial direction perpendicular to the traverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4803711
Abstract: An X-ray inspection apparatus is provided with main detectors each for detecting the absorption amount of X-ray beams delivered from an X-ray focal point, a reference detector for detecting variations in the size or position of the X-ray focal point, and means for removing errors due to influence of the X-ray focal point variations, based on the detention result of the reference detector.

  • Patent number: 4718010
Abstract: A specific slice of a tire is subjected to a high energy radiation which is provided for obtaining projection data of high radiation absorption coefficient portions (steel portions in the tire). The obtained projection data of this steel portions is arranged in a first sinogram. The projection data in this first sinogram is then reconstructed to provide image data. The signal level of the image data is sliced to obtain position data of the steel portions. Based on the obtained position data, the first sinogram for the steel portions is reproduced. This reproduced first sinogram indicates the location of each steel portion. Besides, the same specific slice of the tire is subjected to a low energy radiation which is provided for obtaining projection data of low radiation absorption coefficient portions (rubber portions). The obtained projection data of the rubber portions is arranged in a second sinogram.
